Amazing Live Sea-Monkeys Magic Castle

I missed out on keeping Sea Monkeys when I was a kid. So, when I saw this kit online, I tossed it into my shopping basket thinking it'd be a nice kitch-y piece for my office. Little did I know how much I would enjoy this little kit!

It takes about a week for the tank to truly be hopping with Sea Monkeys (fairy/brine shrimp). At first, when they hatch, they aren't much to look at - tiny, almost invisible moving specks of white in the water. Within a week, they become about 4-5mm long, though, and easily viewed with the naked eye. They reproduce and hatch even more little ones, creating a perfect never-ending aquarium that requires little maintenence.

This kit has been the topic of much curiousity with people in my office. "What the heck are those?" they marvel at my little pets.

To truly help your sea-monkeys to thrive, do occasionally aerate the water. You can bubble air into the tank with the included 'aqua leash' in the kit. I tend to do it once or twice a day when I'm in the office, but that's probably overkill. A spoonful of food once a week, and your sea monkeys will be happy and healthy. Currently, my Magic Castle contains about 20 large-sized sea monkeys and many infants. Occasionally, you may want to use the included aqua leash to vacuum up some of the debris that will form on the bottom of the tank - algae and other stuff - but that's more for appearances than anything else. (Be sure not to accidentally vacuum up one of your sea monkey pals in the process like I did!)

While sea monkeys are not 'pretty' like tropical fish, their ease of care makes them a perfect cubicle companion. They're fun to watch - they become the most active in late afternoon. I've enjoyed this tank and plan on getting their "Sea Monkeys on Mars" tank when it is available.

I found this kit to be the best of the kits made for seamonkies. There really is not a big need for the magnifying lens because of the cylindrical shape of the tank makes everything larger. You'll know what I mean when you pour in the water. This tank looks large but it is actually rather small, which I liked. Its the same size as a regular coke can (the base is larger though). The shape and the base makes it harder to tip over than the Ocean Zoo, Oceans of Light, Ghost Ship, Imaginarium, etc kits. Instead of having a huge gapping air hole, there are four 4mm in diameter holes in the top.

The only negative aspect I found in this design is that the top of the tank does not attach on or screw on, it simply lays on top of the hole. I have my kit in a well protect-from-spills area, but in case if there was one, the top would easily fall off and all the water spill out.

My highest suggestion if you are going to get this kit is to find a warm area for it!! Seamonkies grow MUCH larger in warmer water. My first tank was not place in a warm area when I hatched them 1 1/2 months ago, they are currently still the same size as the tank I just started 3 weeks ago. Buy an aquarium thermometer...

I was in love with Sea Monkeys as a child and I'm still entranced by their intriguing ways. I'm thrilled to have discovered the Magic Castle! It's beautiful and the perfect gift for a child. It's the best version of the Sea Monkey habitat ever! I bought one for my daughter and three more as gifts. The instructions are very clear, too, and have easy-to-understand diagrams for children explaining when to feed, add eggs, etc. I highly recommend it!

I had Sea Monkeys as a child and loved raising them! Now, an adult, I discovered the Sea Monkeys Magic Caste on the internet! I had to have it as soon as I saw it! It is a great little kit! It comes with the aquarium and everything you need to get started. The aquarium is small but it is total fun - even for a crazy adult like me. When I told one of my co-workers about the castle she nearly screamed and had to get one too! All around it is enjoyable and it can be very educational for the kids too! Children can learn about different life cycles and how an animal like Sea Monkeys can hatch from a packet of dried crystals. This kit is a must for all Sea Monkey lovers and anyone who just wants to have fun and feel like a kid again!

My boyfriend and I remembered sea monkeys from when we were little, so we decided to purchase a Magic Castle set and what fun it is. I plan to get one for my desk at work. It is fun to watch them, they are really funny (even though they don't realize it) We put them on the bathroom window sill every morning to expose them to the morning air and the sun (not direct sunlight though). I love it and I recommend everyone to get some!

We had no idea what seamonkeys were, untill we browsed the internet...and became curious! The kit arrived promptly and in good shape. The instruction were simple to follow. And right on January 1st, 2000... we were the proud owners of a multitude of these little sea creatures. They grow quickly! Every day you can observe how they have grown. Care of these little guys is a weekly feeding, and making sure not to expose them to sun light. The kit is great for children over 12 or so, and even I enjoy watching them swim about their underwater castle!

The Amazing Live Sea-Monkeys Magic Castle is an extremely fun product for people of all ages. The package contains enough food to last for ages.It is fun watching the Sea Monkeys swim around the tank. You learn about how sea Monkeys swim, eat, how they live and you also learn some tricks to teach them.

When I was a young child my sister was given sea monkeys as a gift. She would not let me look at or touch them. Now, through the magic of amazon.com and my credit card, I now have my very own sea monkeys. When my sister comes to visit she is not allowed to touch or look at my sea monkeys. I am very very satisfied with my purchase.

I finally bought these little shrimp! At first I didn't see anything when I put in the eggs, but when I put it in the sun, THEY WERE THERE! I was
so excited! I fell in love with them because they're tiny. Right now I'm looking at them, so tiny and adorable! The only downside is I'm afraid my cat will knock them over, but he doesn't even care about them. He walked right past them 34 times. Any way, I love them so increadibly much.GET THEM! THEY'RE GREAT!I HAVE HUNDREDS ALLREADY! SO TOTALLY SATISFYING!!!!!:)

This is what many Sea-Monkeys fans expected since some time ago, a real Sea-Monkey Castle inside the aquarium, just as advertised in the 60's, a great collector's item. I like the fact that a Plasma III is included in this kit, this means that more Sea-Monkeys will survive and last longer.
