This review is from: The Amazing Mrs Shufflewick: The Life of Rex Jameson (Paperback)
I have only heard tell of Rex Jameson's outrageous act as a female impersonator with the moniker of "Mrs Shufflewick", a cockney barfly in a ratty fur stole and little old lady hat askew on her head . A true original , he carved his own career path in the margins in mid century Britains dance halls and hippodromes. A glimpse of a by gone era , this was sketchy show biz - but indeed from the sound of it "Shuff" as he was later called, outrageous and blue as can be- had people in stitches with his naughty vulgar character of Mrs Shufflewick. He may have offended some, but I doubt a single soul was harmed and many many more given a laugh riot. I wish the book could have been more complete but so little is known of this singular sensation.Thank you author for this fine tribute.
