5.0 out of 5 stars As Greasy as They Want to Be
There are very few albums that I can listen all the way through without skipping tracks. This album is one of those. This is high octane stuff kids.

"Do The Devil" and "1965 GTO" should be listened to with caution while manning a vehicle. These songs seem to cause bloodthirsty-speed-demon driving and serious hip shaking. Common sense tells you not to stomp...

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad sound mix hurts great live band
The band is great. The Music is great. The live Shows are fantastic. The Sound mix on this disc is far from great. This is one of the greatest live bands ever, and this recording does not do them justice. The Amazing Royal Crowns are still Royal to the Loyal, But this recording is anything but royal or loyal to the band's otherwise great sound. If you like...

Common sense tells you not to stomp the gas pedal while in "Drive," but these cats make it so damn hard to sit still and take it.

We all know that a plethera of half-crap bands came out of the whole swing/rockabilly revival and it was suddenly "cool" to be a hepcat with greasy kid stuff in your hair. Half of these bands were manufactured by labels to make money and had no soul. The thing that stands out about The Amazing Royal Crowns is that they LOVED what they did. They felt it in their bones. The music came out of them, moved through them, moved through us. They sacrificed their health, their time and their money to go out on the road and play their kick ass music for nothing more than the enjoyment they got out of it. All done with style. They did not do it for the money. They did it because they loved it. It was a shame to see greed from self-made rivals, Royal Crown Review, destroy such talent and fevered passion...

5.0 out of 5 stars STILL LOYAL to the ROYAL, October 19, 2003

This review is from: Amazing Royal Crowns (Audio CD)
First of all, someone in a different review stated that the release "Royal" was just a re-release of the first and self-titled cd with the song order changed around. That is completely false! "Royal" is full of completely new and original material. If you like high energy rockabilly with a dash of Reverend Horton Heat, The Ramones, The Cramps, and Johnny Cash, then I highly recommend getting your greasy palms on BOTH of the cd's from this gone-but-not-forgotten band. I understand that they were forced to disband after a bitter legal battle over the name of the band, which basically left them broke. Fortunately they were allowed to keep the "AMAZING" portion of their name, because they really are that!. But do yourself a favor and give them a listen. Both of their cd's are in constant rotation in my player, and that's coming from a So-Cal D.J. with over 1000 discs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Providence Rockers Deliver, July 25, 2000
Providence's Amazing Royal Crowns (now Amazing Crowns) provide a CD full of their best and most punchy hits. I first heard and saw the group when they opened for the Bosstones (with Honkeyball -- what a show!). When their first CD was released a few months later I eagerly snapped it up, but was worried that the frenetic level of musicianship and energy they had in their live set might not have translated well to their recorded work. I was in for quite a surprise...

The energy is all there, especially on "Do the Devil", "1965 GTO" and "Swimming in Drinks". The songs do rock hard, but they also have great musical hooks and awesome rhythm section backing up the guitars and vocals. It is rare to find a CD these days that does not have filler songs or some tracks that are just "ok". This is one of those rare few.

If you are looking for some great punk-a-billy or just something that rocks but does not sound like just all the other new-punk groups, check out this CD. You will not be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast punkabilly sounds with the Amazing Crowns, December 5, 1999
By
This review is from: Amazing Royal Crowns (Audio CD)
The Amazing Crowns, formally the Amazing "royal" Crowns are the best band I have ever heard. Their self titled album with 14 original songs has fast punkabilly songs, making the Crown's sound a mix of old rockabilly style with punk anthems, featuring a lively lead singer (Jason-king kendall) who has an elvis/Lux Interior sound voice. Their bassist, (Jack the Swinger) hits his upright base so fast and hard, mixed with the stylings of the guitarist (JD Burgess) and the drummer (Jud). My favorite songs include Scene of the Crime, Gretschy, and Rollercoaster (dedicated to Johnny Cash). If you like the Cramps, Reverend Horton Heat, and rock and roll-you will love this cd. If you get a chance to see them live, go for it, because this band gets the crowd dancing!

If you like Rockabilly then you'll love the Amazing Royal Crowns. Even though the band would HATE to admit it, Swing fans will enjoy this disc too. In my opinion, it is great rock and roll in the tradition of Elvis. I hope this disc gets remastered when the Crowns become famous, which isn't that far off from now. Jump on the band wagon now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blood, sweat, and grease, March 6, 2000
Probably the best rockabilly band in New England (all apologies to the Racketeers and Gamma Rays who also rock), the Amazing Crowns (shortened title after a law suit with Royal Crown Revue) put out a debut album second to none. Every track boils over with the Crowns trademark blend of old-style rockabilly with a modern hard-and-fast edge, embodied in flamboyant singer Jason "King" Kendall. Fiery guitar riffs, thumping stand up bass, and in-your-face vocals make the Crowns the premier live act in music today.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rockabilly and Punk at it's best, fast , hard and fun!!, December 7, 1998
By A Customer
If you like Rev. Horton Heat, you'll love the Amazing Crowns (Still Royal to the Loyal!) These guys put on a great live show and the album captures this energy (even though it's a studio album.) King Kendal (the lead singer) has got a great voice and the music is a great melding of rockabilly and punk.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kick out the jams Rockabilly madness!, December 1, 1998
By A Customer
Although better live, the Crowns put out a tight, fast, and energetic CD. There are hints of the Cramps, Reverend Horton Heat, and Elvis rolled up into one. Definitely play it loud.
