From School Library Journal
Grade 1-3?Visually inviting and accessible introductions with large print, lots of white space, and distinct topic divisions. Short, straightforward texts and average-quality illustrations depict the animals' physical characteristics and means of locomotion. Amazing presents basic facts and unique features of a variety of sea creatures. Dangerous looks at predators of land, air, and sea, giving general descriptions of methods used to capture prey and make a kill. This focus, both in text and illustration, leaves readers with a somewhat one-sided view, particularly for those creatures that pose a threat to humans. Considering the content of the books, the brief (eight word) glossaries have some surprising word choices, such as "sandpaper" (Dangerous) and "explosive" (Amazing). These introductions to diversity within the animal world, while not disseminating new information, could be considered as additional purchases for large collections. David Nicoll and Jane Donnelly's Fearsome Hunters of the Wild (DK, 1996) isn't as detailed or graphic as it doesn't focus on the actual kill.?Diane Nunn, Richard E. Review
There are many positive aspects to these four titles. The appeal is enough to catch the eye of the most reluctant reader, and yet, each book contains information at a level that even the most studious can find relevant --
