My 18 month old son loves it!,

This review is from: The Amazing Spider-Man (Look and Find (Publications International)) (Hardcover)
This book is suggested for older kids but my 18 month old loves it! He really likes Spider-man stuff and got this book as a gift for Christmas. I thought he wouldn't be able to enjoy it until he was older but he can find the Spider-man on every page and loves to read this book multiple times each day. I would definitely recommend it to little Spider-man lovers out there!

So I was thinking that this book would be more of a "Where's Waldo (Spider-Man)". It is and it is not at the same time. Really, Spider-Man is the easy thing to find. It is all of the other little things that "Spider-Man" wants you to find that make the book fun.
Not nearly as challenging as a "Where's Waldo" book, but a lot of fun, especially for fans of Marvel comics because throughout all of the pictures, there are a bunch of the other Marvel Heroes such as Hulk, Iron Man, the Scarlet Witch, and many others as well as a bunch of Spidey's enemies (Electro, The Vulture, Kraven the Hunter). It is a fun book and kids seems to like it, especially if you want to teach your child early about Marvel characters. Have fun!

Holy half-naked ladies on every page, Spidey. Is this really a kids book? Way too much promiscuity in my opinion, even for a super-heroes book. I didn't like it at all and I'm not going to give it to my son, which is the reason I bought the book in the first place. Plus, the pictures and storyline are boring and the items to search for not very interesting anyway. Very disappointed in this purchase because its going straight in the trash.

I purchased this book for my 3 year old for Christmas. He is the biggest Spider-Man fan. When it got here my daughter and I looked thru some of the pages, it's great! We searched for the objects it lists on the page and then we just looked for all the Spider-Mans on the page. I know my son will spend hours with this book. It's a taller book not a small square one but it's thin so easy enough for smaller kids to tote around. Every page is full of bright color and just loaded with pictures. It's not a reading book it's an "I Spy" book. Truely a Great Gift for any Spidey lover!

My five and three year old love this book. They liked it a year ago when we first got it and it's been a favorite since.

Bait and switch, not look and find!,

HORRIBLE! The pictures in the key are NOT the same as the pictures on the seek pages. My 5-year-old found every picture except for one. My husband and I tried to find the picture, too. Much to my dismay, we did not find it, either. I checked the publisher website to see if there was any information on where to find an answer key. The website was nothing but advertising. So, I called the 800 number. The customer service person (named Elvis) was clueless. I was put on hold several times only to be told that "that information is not available." I said, "Does that mean that there is no answer key anywhere, you don't know where the answer key is, or you don't know if an answer key exists?" After stating that question 3 times, the customer service person stated that he did not know if there was an answer key anywhere. After some investigating, I found that the 800 number does not even go to the publisher. Elvis was an employee of some 3rd party call center hired to take messages for the publisher. Basically, their "customer service" department is nothing but an answering service.
As far as the scantily-clad women in the pictures that have been complained about - just take into consideration that these illustrations are based on comic books. If you are familiar with comics, then you know that that's how women are illustrated. Just like the men are illustrated with six-pack abs and chiseled jaws. It's not realistic. They are superheroes and villains. If you don't like that style, then there are other books that are more toddler-friendly. Just my opinion. I would not recommend this book - based on the difficulty of the seek and find and lack of answer pages. What would have been helpful is an answer key at the back of the book, similar to what Highlights magazine does. Hope this helps.

My 3-yr old son is Spiderman crazy and loves this book. He loves to find all the hidden things in it. However, as is true with most Spiderman literature, the text is beyond a 3-yr old level of understanding and doesn't really hold his interest. Maybe someday when he has memorized where all the hidden items are he'll actually be able to appreciate the "story."

Hard for Kids,

This book was hard for my 4 & 6 year old. This pictures are hidden too well and they don't look exactly the same as the picture in the key.

This book is better for a 5-7 yr old. I bought it for my 3 yr old and it's a little overwhelming for him. They're just too hard to find. I recco the Thomas Tank version. Overall I will save this book though for when he's a bit older. It's nice hard back/larger a great gift!! Great pics-little story line...

My child was too young (3 years old) to appreciate this, and did more ripping out of pages, but this is a really cool book. The pages are drawn in the style of old comic books--very color and complete with WHAM's, POW's, and lots of villans, and are completely busy in the style of Where's Waldo--the pages chock full of items making Spiderman pretty difficult to find. I thought this was an awesome book and wish I had waited until he was older to give it to him. I would suggest this for more like 6-8 year olds, and think it would be a great gift for the little boy who loves Spiderman!!!
