5.0 out of 5 stars One Of Ol' "Web Head's" Greatest Moments, August 2, 2009

This review is from: The Amazing Spider-Man Vs. The Kingpin (Sega CD) (Video Game)
Many a Spidey fan asked for it but few turned out quite like this. The Sega CD port of The Amazing Spider-Man vs. The Kingpin was one of ol' Web Head's greatest moments in video games. Not only does Kingpin have poor Spidey accused of planting a nuclear bomb somewhere in the city (which is set to blow in twenty four hours!) but he's kidnapped M.J. as well! As if to add insult to injury Kingpin has also hired some of Spidey's greatest foes to guard the keys to the bomb and slow the wall crawler down. With the odds against him, not to mention his arch enemys, their thugs and unfortunately the police, it'll take everything Spidey has up his little red web-patterned sleeves to thwart the Kingpin and crawl his way out of this mess. This is the best of the old school Spider-Man games as it is a huge improvement over it's predicessors for Genisis, Master System and Game Gear. It features a load of challinging levels, both the main villain levels and side missions (I'm afraid I haven't counted them all, sorry), and contains most if not all of Spidey's greatest enemies including Electro, Sand Man, The Vulture, Mysterio, Hobgoblin, The Lizard, Venom and of course Dr. Octopus. Whew! It also had a few extra things that the other "versions" did not. This game borrowed two more villain characters from the Dare Devil comics (I mean besides Kingpin). The player was rewarded for their efforts by being treated to a fight with Bullseye and Typhoid Mary who acted as Kingpin's body guards and who had to be defeated in order to proceed to the chamber of the large round one himself. (Bullseye and Typhoid Mary did not appear in any other version of the game). This game also featured comic book style video sequences complete with character voice overs to help the story along and a rockin' soundtrack by Spencer Nilson of Sonic fame and the rock group "Mr. Big". No Spidey fan should go without playing the Sega CD version of Spider-Man, a real clash of the Marvel Titans. Swing on true believers. Excelsior!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Greatest Spider-Man games ever, April 20, 2008

Ready for some swingtime? If so, read the review and purchase the game afterwards!
This game faithfully follows the Spider-Man game for the Sega Genesis, but the Sega CD version has features that are a vast improvement!
Graphics: Better than the Genesis version and very good
Control: Great controls - A button is used to attack, B Button is used to use the web shooters and C Button is used to jump
Sound & Music: Great Soundtrack with "Swingtime", the sound effects are major improvement over the Genesis
Plot: The Kingpin has made New York falsely accuse Spider-Man for planting a bomb somewhere in the city - which will detonate within 24 hours, and Spider-Man has to clear his name and defuse the bomb somehow
Fun-Factor: The action is hot, the challenge is great for even the most novice of players
And so: It'll appease even the most faithful Spider-Man fans - Enjoy.

J. Garten
