Ian J. Plant is a photographer whose work has appeared in numerous magazines, including Adirondack Life, Blue Ridge Country, Chesapeake Life, and Wonderful West Virginia. His photography has also been featured in Blue Ridge Parkway Wonder and Light, Chesapeake: Bay of Light, Maryland Wonder and Light, Shenandoah Wonder and Light, Virginia Wonder and Light, and West Virginia Wonder and Light. He lives in Lorton, Virginia. Joseph Rossbach is a nature photographer and writer whose work can be seen in advertising campaigns, art galleries, books, calendars magazines, and websites. Some of his clients include Blue Ridge Country Magazine, Connections Magazine, Digital Camera World, Photo Techniques Magazine, and The Potomac News and Mountain. He lives in Annapolis, Maryland.

Just received this and I am really impressed with what Ian and Joe have accomplished in this informative and beautiful publication. The layout is well thought out with maps, links, amazing images and text that is concise and thorough. Did I mention the images in this book are amazing?! They really give you a great feel for what you might expect to find at the locations highlighted. Highly recommended to even long time Wasingtonian area natives and a must have for a visit to the region. All photographers who live in or visit the DC area should have this book. You won't regret this purchase.

This is an outstanding book for outdoor photographers. The authors reveal the best locations and times for shooting outdoors, nature and landscape. The maps and diagrams are informative. The pictures they have taken in these places are simply stunning. I am personally wowed. Terrific value, good price. I hope other books follow, although it may take me two years to visit all 50 places every other weekend.

Great list of gorgeous places to visit around the DC metro area. Some I already knew about, but many were new to me. All are a great adventure. The descriptions and "how to" info are very helpful. I really liked having an easy to find callout listing the length of the hike, time needed, and overall difficult rating. Great book, a must have for those interested in exploring the beautiful areas around DC - both photographers and outdoor enthusiasts.
