About the Author

Sean and Karen Conley have been teaching power vinyasa yoga for more than 10 years. The Amazing Yoga style allows people to find true health by creating a deep spiritual connection. Sean and Karen lead teacher training programs in Mexico, Costa Rica, and Pittsburgh, where they are the yoga teachers for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Before discovering yoga, Sean spent four years in the NFL and Karen had an extensive career in dance. Sean and Karen live in Pittsburgh with their four children.

Amazing Yoga: A Practical Guide to Strength, Wellness and Spirit is a great read for any level of yoga student, including those who haven't tried yoga yet. The book sets out eight guiding intentions for your yoga practice that tie in elements of life, making each chapter personal and relatable. Sprinkled throughout the book are inspirational stories and quotes. The book also provides two sequences of poses complete with pictures and descriptions. I plan on using this book as a guide for my yoga practice and life.

Format: Perfect Paperback
This book is a great guide for 'the Journey'. It is concise and the format is simple.

The Eight Guiding Intentions explain clearly what yoga is an what it can achieve. The ideas and thoughts are further crystallized by anecdotes and testimony in italics.

The many quotes in the wide margins throughout the book - from Buddha to John Lennon and many others - add even more clarity and actually are reads in themselves.

The explanations and tips for the many physical positions of this power yoga and the remarkable photographs of Karen in each position make this book a must for studio and home.

Format: Perfect Paperback
This is a great instructional and inspirational book. The photo's and instruction are very clear and easy to follow, making them appropriate for all levels. I've been searching for a book that is concise, easy to follow and can help me develop my own yoga practice at home - this book nails it! Plus the motivational factor, in a light-hearted way, has me paging through it for a little 'boost' when I need it.

Format: Perfect Paperback
Amazing Yoga is encouraging and inspirational with a firsthand account of how a former football star has achieved wellness and health with yoga. Yoga worked for me in the past, before a terrible knee accident, and this book makes me believe that I can still continue with yoga and increase the quality of my life. Thanks Sean and Karen for this practical guide to get back on board.

Refreshing read - A very compelling story of two determined souls that are focused on bettering the lives of others. What more can one say! Good people - good hearts. Over twenty years ago, I quickly studied Yoga under Porkch'optiues in Florida and I may say the Conleys are at a very respected and high level within the Yoga Industry! 2 Thumbs up!

Amazing yoga was none other than amazing. I've heard most of these thoughts and philosophies before, but forsome reason it really felt like they hit home. Strongly recommend the read.

Format: Perfect Paperback
This book is a fantastic read for a new practitioner or a lifelong yogi. It is a beautiful book that may remind you of why you began practicing, or it may give you the inspiration to begin. Karen and Sean make yoga seem accessible and real for those of us living in the West.

Author and Yoga Teacher
Sean has been practicing and teaching Power Vinyasa Yoga in Pittsburgh, PA since 2000. Sean's initial training was informally with Karen Conley and soon took up formal training from Baron Baptiste. Along with Karen, they recently released the book "Amazing Yoga: A Practical Guide to Strength, Wellness, and Spirit." Other writing includes being a Featured Columnist for Elephant Journal.

During the later stages of a 4 year career in the NFL, he discovered the healing powers of yoga. Injuries forced him to step away, but in the process, he found a new passion, yoga. It is with this love and gratitude of yoga that he tries to share it with as many people as possible. His football-related injuries have helped him bring in compassion, wisdom(hopefully), and lame attempts at humor into every class.

Sean is currently teaching Amazing Yoga to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has found inspiration in their dedication, determination, and positive attitudes. He has been leading teacher trainings and retreats with Karen for the past 10 years.  He regularly holds in-depth workshops and intensives.
