This review is from: Music Catch [Download] (Software Download)
Music Catch is an interesting new way to listen to the mp3s on your computer. The best way to describe it is a cross between a visualizer and pong. You simply use your mouse to collect all of the shapes as they appear and avoid the red ones. It's this simplicity that ultimately works against the game as it becomes fairly redundant - there is no real progression and not enough player reward besides listening to the music. You receive a score and percentage at the end of the song, but since there are no online leaderboards to compete against others, you have no real ability to gauge your performance against others that have played the same songs. Although there are different shapes that appear with different songs, they are all flat colored and sort of boring. I was hoping for more flashy indications that I was succeeding (or not). Why is the background just a black screen? Why do all of the shapes flow out of a single gray line? This just seems like a work in progress. A great idea, but without a compelling reason to come back, I'll just keep listening to my music while I type.
