Feels like a cheap piece of plastic instead of a leather cover. I paid $35 for this? Should have been more like $15.

I think one area Amazon screwed up in their redesign of the Kindle is that they took away the slots on the side where covers used to snap into the Kindle. With those your Kindle was securely attached to the cover. The previous generation's leather cover was also much higher quality. It had some weight to it and felt like an old, leather bound book. It also had just a bit of padding to it which I hope would help if I ever dropped it. This new cover seems like the leather is just glued to the plastic so if you drop it almost all of the impact will be transferred to the Kindle.

I chose this cover because the new Kindle would just snap in instead of being held in by its corners. But if I had it to do over again I'd get Acase's cover (which IS only $15) or one by Marware which looks like it has that old-school leather feel to it.

In putting out new Kindles at very favorable price points, amazon has definitely decided to skimp on the quality of its new covers. The Touch snaps into this cover well--almost too well, since it is very difficult to pry it out again. The front cover is very flimsy and has nothing to keep it closed. When you hold The Touch to read, the front cover cuts uncomfortably into your hand because it is so thin and stiff edged. It is also hard to hold because it is too smooth and slick a surface. The whole thing feels cheap. Personally, I loved amazon's pebbly leather cover with built in light of the Kindle 3 (aka Keyboard). It felt good to the touch, was functional, and closed securely with the elastic band. Amazon missed an opportunity with this cover. I've returned it to amazon and will be looking for something else.

I ordered a cover because I am looking for decent protection for my Kindle. I splurged on a $40 leather cover because I expected quality and durability. This is mostly cheap, lightweight plastic. It feels like it will break on the first fall. And there is no way to secure the front cover to keep it closed. The front flap is a thin, cardboard-like leather. The back is plastic with a bit of thin leather glued on. I plan to return this and buy a less expensive, higher quality cover. The Marware covers look nice.

This is my 4th Kindle & my 4th case. I love all of my Kindles. This case is so extremely ugly. Additionally it looks very cheap compared to all my previous versions & their covers.

If this is leather, that was a very sad cow.

This case is easily the worst purchase I've ever made from Amazon. I've been a customer since they started (literally), and I must say I expected more from them. Given the price, I expected a decent cover with imitation leather, minimal padding, etc. What I received was worse. To get an idea about how this "feels" on your kindle, imagine cutting a square out of a cardboard cereal box and then taping it along one edge to the side of your kindle. THAT's what it feels like. The front is about 1 or 2 mm thick, and so flimsy that I feel like it would just tear off if I used it to pick up the kindle. The back is thin plastic SPRAY PAINTED to be the same color as the front. Other than as a screen protector, this item can't do much to protect your kindle from damage. And it feels so unsatisfying and cheap when you hold it, that the entire time I'm reading my kindle I'll be thinking in the back of my head how disappointed I am with Amazon for selling it AND for selling it at the price I would expect to pay for a REAL cover.

I like this case. It holds the kindle touch securely and the light works just fine. I wish it had a magnetic closure but really that is a small thing. This is the first kindle case that looks like a real book. I gave it one star which is something I rarely do. I have had the case for four days. It is already all marked up. Keep your fingers away from the cover...... wait that is impossible right? My case has marks all over it from my finger nails. I keep my nail short....... I'm a guy. I am careful with my things to the point of being OCD. The case has three large scratches on the front and one on back. All from finger nails. I tried buffing it.... tried using some leather balm..... all to no avail. So would I buy it again. Yes. Why..... it works well and is actually made well but within another month it's going to look like C_ _ P!

I loved the kindle 3 lighted leather case that I had previously owned so I was expecting the same quality and detail in the kindle touch lighted leather case. Not so. The case is flimsy, slippery and does not have a secure closure. The leather is not the same quality or thickness. For $59.99 th price is to steep for what you receive. I hope this is not a sign of the future kindle quality.

I have never been disappointed with anything that I have ordered from Amazon, but this cover deserves a bad review. It is supposed to be leather, but it looks like plastic that is slick and easily dropped. The price should have been $10, not $40. Even at a $10 price, it is would not be a bargain. It doesn't have a secure snap closure and I wouldn't trust the Kindle to stay put if it was dropped. The only positive I could find is that it is light weight. I have returned it and will shop elsewhere for a replacement.

I just received my new Kindle Touch and cover today, and although I am extremely pleased with the Touch, the cover is very cheaply made and not as nice as the keyboard Kindle cover that my husband has. I am very disappointed with the quality and will be sending the cover back. Kindle Touch Leather Cover, Wine Purple

I just received this cover along with my Kindle Touch. I am very disappointed. It looks and feels like plastic!! I can't believe Amazon is charging $40 for this!! I am going to return this cover and look for one that is actually geniune leather. They should give this cover away with the Kindle, just a way to make a profit off the customer. Shame on Amazon!!!!!!!!!!!!!
