4.0 out of 5 stars Great MMO with awesome combat mechanics July 29, 2013
By kdog
Subscription Term Name:Base Game|Verified Purchase
I downloaded this a while back and didn't get around to playing until recently. I play lot of F2P games and pretty much try all the latest titles (Firefall, Neverwinter, Warframe, Rift, The Old Republic, Planetside, etc) so I don't have any one favorite genre. I either like playing a game or I get bored pretty quickly and move on. TERA is an interesting title...the initial onboarding isn't as good or engaging as something like Neverwinter but once you get through the early levels, the game gets really fun. TERA also doesn't have the rich storytelling of something like the Old Republic but the combat is SO much better than most games that I don't really mind. There is a rich lore to TERA that I'm sure plenty of people are into but I really just like the playing the game.

The graphics are awesome and the world design is quite diverse. There is also a ton of variety in monsters and massive sub-boss and boss fights that are tough but fair once you know how to use your skills.

TERA is a pretty big game to download but worth it IMO. Its also one of the few free to play games I've spent real money on (had an old gift card and impulse purchased on Amazon). In short, no game is perfect and TERA has its flaws but I'm having more fun with TERA than many of the newer free to play games on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and Quick August 16, 2013
By Ron H
Subscription Term Name:4600 EMP
I'm not sure what J. Lin's issue is (see 1-star review above) but it literally took 30 seconds for my account to update with the EMP purchase. I can only assume he had trouble linking his account... again, a 30 second process for me.

This is also convenient for folks that don't want to use or don't have credit cards to purchase direct from En Masse since they can pop into a seven-eleven or many other retailers to buy an Amazon GC.

5.0 out of 5 stars As good as it gets for now August 4, 2013
Subscription Term Name:Base Game
This is the first game I've played where time gets away from me. I am usually aware of how much time I have spent in a game...until now.
The game is so diverting and entertaining that I truly lost track of time.

The controls take some customizing, but that is something that everyone will need to work out for their own best setup. The targeting is much like TES(the elder scrolls)-a floating hitbox in the center of the screen: if an object is in the the box, you will hit it.

The game design is lush and colorful; there are so many quests that even after leveling 4 characters to max level, I still haven't come close to completing them all. EnMasse is focusing on streamlining early gameplay sequences so that they can expand exponentially the endgame experiences (which they are in the process of doing as I write this).

At endgame, there is quite a lot to do, but it can be repetitive EXCEPT for the new cross worlds battleground with auto leveling so everyone is equally prepared to fight. That BG is a lot of fun. They are ironing out the problems that come with a new deployment of content, but seem to be quickly moving to streamline the battleground, too.

I love the game, am giving it 5 stars, and going back out to amazon to buy another copy for a 2nd account...happy gaming

TERA: Rising is a great free-to-play, massively multiplayer online (MMO) game. The game is free but the game does have an economy system. The game allows you to buy some cool extras if you want them. TERA: Rising is alot of fun and there is tons of things to do within the game even if you only play within the free version. The game has a pretty good story but really the reason you will play is to battle within the game. The combat within the game is "point and click" and there is a certain level of skill needed in combat. You get to pick between seven character races and eight character classes. There are over 80 zones within the game.
The game is powered by Unreal 3 Engine. The game is fun whether you are going to play for hours at a time or just jump in for a quick match. I enjoyed this game and I would definitely recommend it.

Thank you for reading my review.

2.0 out of 5 stars Tera Slowly Sinking? April 26, 2015
Subscription Term Name:Base Game
I enjoyed the action packed character classes and gorgeous graphics. There's a lot to explore and fun events. Even though the game has been out a while there are still lots of bugs or things they need to balance out. Surprisingly if you report someone exploiting the game, being racist or spot a game bug, the developers don't really want to hear it. You get a generic cut and paste reply from support, or see dozens of people being silenced and get trouble on the public forums reporting the similar problems. It is happening on both EU and NA servers and it's absurd to harm those helping to trying to improve the game.

The wallet power is pretty strong in Tera, don't be fooled by “free2pay” label. It's pay2win. The flip side is if you have little time to play. You can purchase the best gear in the game, instantly level to 58 without actually playing, and easily beat down skilled players with your credit card. Obviously this kills the spirit of fair sportsmanship or those who legitimately want to play the game. Also if you don't log in every day, your character becomes crippled and it can take up to a week to get back full strength. These kind of desperate gimmicks are what made facebook game unpopular and manipulative. They have no place in MMOs and tera feels past it's prime.

Overall tera can be fun, unfortunately it's diminished by over zealous corporate greed and neglect at times. Don't just take my word for it. Look at the empty EU servers, gameforge reviews since 2013 or racist comments on NA eme public forums.
