Enhance AWS Account Security

AWS Virtual MFA is an Android application that enables you to use your smartphone as a multi-factor authentication device with AWS Multi-Factor Authentication (AWS MFA). This is an optional feature of your Amazon Web Services (AWS) account that provides increased security when accessing AWS. This feature requires the user to present a valid authentication code provided by their MFA device, in addition to their username and password, before they can sign in.

Supports OATH Standard

The AWS Virtual MFA application supports the OATH standard for time-based one-time passwords, and it can easily be configured by scanning a QR Code with your smartphone or by manually entering a configuration key provided by the AWS Management Console. The app supports the ability to generate one-time passwords for one or more virtual tokens, making it easier for customers who require MFA protection for multiple AWS identities.

Integrate All Your Accounts

You can enable AWS MFA for your AWS account as well as for any AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) user associated under your account. All AWS websites, such as the AWS Management Console and the AWS portal, suppport AWS MFA.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does work, but Google Authenticator is way better January 7, 2013
Verified Purchase
Google authenticator is easier to use, has a better user interface and can be used for many accounts. Not recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised but the UI is ugly November 22, 2011
Verified Purchase
I downloaded this app just to check it out with my AWS account. It does what it is supposed to. However, the interface is alpha version.

Google's Authenticator works great as AWS Virtual MFA token generator and I prefer that app over this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work on my S5 October 3, 2014
Verified Purchase
Installed fine, but upon start a menu bar was not shown ending further use. I investigated solutions and found others noting the AWS Virtual MFA App is not compatible with my S5 because of the missing menu bar. The missing menu bar issue was raised months ago on the Amazon website but it has gone unanswered and un repaired as of this writing.
Solution: Use Google Authenticator, easy to install and works as expected.

So I love the Virtual MFA tool, and use it at least 3-5 times a day with multiple AWS accounts (different projects, etc).

My only complaint about the product is that the format that my accounts are listed in the UI makes them hard to distinguish. I wish the user had an option to rename them, or to at least just have the associated e-mail address displayed (that might be a security risk for some, but it would be nice to have that as an option we could toggle).

2.0 out of 5 stars Use a different two factor app August 17, 2013
Verified Purchase
I didn't realize this until after I installed it, but any other two factor app the supports TOTP code generation can work as an authenticator. Use any of them instead, the UX on this app is bad. The codes do work though.

I'm a little biased, though, as I do work for Duo Security.
