I should have read the other reviews! This is tiny in size - only 50 or so pages so it does not have in-depth coverage, just what you can glean from the web.

That would have been still Ok if the information was current but it's fairly obsolete. Does not even cover things like the latest on Kindle evolution (3G and Wifi) or the Amazon Cloud Services or free vidoes for Amazon prime members.

So if you're just looking for historic, outdated information on AMazon to give to your grandma who can't use the internet, this may be useful otherwise skip.

I disagree with the review which says this could be useful in an interview.

I purchased this before my first interview with Amazon. Its a good source of jumping off points for the rest of your preparation and research. It does have some typos/poor editing, but for the price and summary nature, those were immaterial for me.

Don't expect an incredible amount of insight or extremely current information, but you will get a good overall picture of how amazon.com was formed and what they have accomplished over the past 15 years.

I would recommend this quick read (53 wide margin pages) for anybody interested in learning more about amazon.com.

There are good summaries for world wide locations, product lines, acquisitions and spinoffs, and a good timeline of events from 2001 to 2008.

Strange that the document references to hidden easter eggs on the amazon site.

This most likely can be found online as a part of the GNU Free Documentation License, but I needed a quick overview of the company and wanted to read a physical copy.
