Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
I tested these CD-R's on an iMac running OS X 10.5.8 with an external LaCie DVD/CD burner containing TSST guts. The burner is connected to the iMac via FireWire.
I did not encounter any problems using the CD-R's. My burner was able to write to them at high speeds. The burnt discs were readable by other devices without any hassles. A minor quibble, though, is that the discs themselves seem to be more flexible and lighter in weight than the CD-R's I normally use (Verbatim and TDK). Another, more personal, quibble is that the discs have a glossy finish on the label side. I prefer a matte finish because the CD marker pens I use don't work terribly well on slick surfaces. For this product, the Frustration-Free Packaging isn't a big deal. The discs come on the usual spindle with a plastic, lockable cover. The only real packaging difference is that the spindle is shipped in a special box that doesn't require air packs or foam peanuts to protect the spindle while it is in transit. That's environmentally nice but the spindle itself isn't any easier or harder to open than others. Bottom line: a good choice for "everyday" disc burning. However, I won't be using these CD-R's for archival or mission-critical purposes until they establish more of a track record. 3.5 stars. ------ Update (April 2010): These discs have been working without any problems on my i7 iMac's internal Superdrive, using Snow Leopard 10.6.3 .

Like other reviewers have said, there's not too much to say about these disks, other than that they work great! The price is excellent, the packaging of them is nice (except for the large outer boxes that they are shipped in), and they have worked well so far in every system I've tried them in (my car, computer, and our regular CD player).
Like others, I have also not received any error messages -- and haven't had to throw out any disks! I'll definitely be re-purchasing these when I run out.

I can't imagine what you would say when reviewing blank cd's, but these do exactly what they're supposed to do! My computer reads them easily, and the playback is perfect. The cd's themselves are aesthetically pleasing as well. They have a nice gold gloss to them that make them look a little classier than the average blank discs. Until recently, I wasn't even aware that Amazon made their own blank discs, so this is a nice surprise. This is a very good deal!

What will Amazon make next? So far, I've had complete success with Amazon.com branded products. This product is certainly no exception.
I've made about 6-7 discs so far and they've all turned out great. I'd be shocked if I make it through the entire spindle without making a couple of coasters, but I will update after I've used them all. They seem to be of exceptional quality with high quality control standards and the price is good. Those two things are all you can ever really ask of recordable media. My only complaint was the packaging. Amazon put them in a box within an enormous box full of those plastic airbags. Very wasteful :( I'm sure the single interior box would have been sufficient enough. I hope they trim down the sizes of the exterior boxes they ship. As many things as I buy from Amazon, it seems like they don't have much variety in exterior box sizes and this causes small, awkward-shaped things, like CD-R spindles, to be put inside HUGE boxes. In short, if you need some CD-Rs, buy these and you won't be disappointed with the quality or the price.

The quality overall of these discs is good. I've only had a problem with one of the discs not playing in my truck. It would play on the computer, however...not sure what that's about. The packaging is no frills, which is fine with me. Overall, a good all-around cd-r for general usage. If you want higher quality, you will just have to pay for it.

Too many errors,

I've been consistently getting bad disks since I bought these. I thought it was my computer. I defragged my hard drive and did a cd copy simulation which came out fine. When I tried to burn the cd I ended up with another bad disk. I switched to an old Maxell disk and it came out perfectly.
These disks are inexpensive but worthless as far as I'm concerned. I still have most of them left but with so many ruined disks I'm not going to bother using them anymore.

Amazon introduces their store brand... and it's a hit!,

Whenever buying recordable media, it's always difficult to chose between brand names, which are expensive and not always a guarantee of quality (I'm talking about you, Memorex) and no-name products which are inexpensive but can be hit or miss.
With their new AmazonBasics store brand line, Amazon manages to offer both the peace of mind that goes along with a trusted name, and very low prices. The discs are well made and sturdy. The label side is a shiny silver and features branding printed in black, but most of the disc surface is available for writing. I have also used Neato labels with no adverse effects. I'm halfway through the 100 disc spindle and all my discs have burned successfully and play without any hiccups in my stereos and in the car. These are excellent discs at a very competitive price. Recommended.

This is a great value for a spool of 100 blank discs. What can I say? They were well packed, arrived quickly and work great. There is minimal print on the CD itself and what's there is understated, so that's nice. I'm sold!
I'll definitely be on the lookout for more of amazon's house brand media in the future. You can't beat it!

Great quality product. Great price. In general I love Amazon Frustration Free packaging. These CD-Rs are just as high quality if not better than other products by other vendors. I would not hesitate to buy these in the future. It is great to not have to sacrifice quality to save money.
Also have been able to use without getting error messages and having to throw away perfectly good discs--unlike some big name brands where it seems as much as 10%-20% have to get tossed out.

These CD-R's come are mailed in their own package so there is no need for extra wasteful packing materials. The quality of the CDs are excellent for burning music and seem more durable than most bargain CD-Rs. I am pleased that Amazon has come up with their "Basics" line of products as they are economical and high quality. Highly recommended.
