The world of digital video cameras has shrunk, into tiny hand-sized devices that do much more than the two-handed model I bought in 2001. These screw-driver sized devices need a case, and this is the one. Strong, flexible, with a separate pocket for an extra memory card, designed to fit a range of models, this is the case that you should buy with any new recorder. And fair warning, this bag fits very small camcorders, but not all of them, and larger ones bulge out of the top. So be sure yours fits.
I put my camcorder in this bag and left it in a bit of water near the sink, and it kept things dry. I dropped my camcorder, in this bag, onto a cement floor, and nothing broke. I left them in the sun (my camcorder and bag) and everything worked fine.
I put the darn things in my pocket, and they fit (with a sort of "is he carrying a pistol" sort of bulge, but hey). I used the camcorder, in the bag, as a temporary emergency ski and schlussed down the Alpine slopes to safety from an attacking horde of paparazzi, and the bag kept the camcorder safe.
This is a nice bag! IT IS A NICE BAG! YOU NEED THIS.
Or, you could probably do without it. But if you are going to spend $99 on the camcorder, do you really want it in your fuzzy, peanut-butter cookie crumbs pocket?
Also, this bag saved my life in Brazil once, but that story I will save for my memoirs.
