TammyJo Eckhart currently has eight books in print, the latest one is the first book of a trilogy through Circlet Press set in the middle of the 22nd century were genetic engineering and corporate culture has created a difficult choice for her heroine Emily. Her agent is currently shopping another novel around while she works on the second book in the trilogy.

A skilled storyteller, Eckhart enjoys reading her fiction to live audience so she is happy to travel in her region to perform readings, sell/sign books, and lead workshops and discussions on various aspects of BDSM, gender & sexuality, or the literature, culture, and study of science fiction, fantasy, horror and other types of speculative fiction. A huge but picky science fiction, fantasy, horror, and slash fan, Eckhart is also a prolific book reviewer writing 4-8 reviews a month for various publications. Tammy Jo Eckhart had an interesting idea: use hot sex--mostly of the gay and lesbian variety--to make mythology more accessible to modern readers. She retells the story of Hippolyte and Heracles, Antiope and Theseus, Penthesileia and Achilles, and four others mainly from the Amazon point of view. Eckhart has a bachelor's and master's degree in Greco-Roman history. Each story begins with a quote from an ancient work of literature and ends with an essay on sexual politics in the the Greco-Roman world. (It's actually a little bit dry.) Amazons is an off-beat editon to my large collection of books on mythology and women's studies.

Being a fan of Female Warriors, and especially Amazons, I really enjoyed Tammy Jo Eckhart's collection of adventure stories about Amazons and the men they conquered. Particularly, the last story entitled; Journey Unto Warrior. I have combed numerous libraries and bookstores searching for such tales, and was very thrlled to finally find such a book as Amazons. Thankyou Ms. Eckhart for writing such a book. I hope to read more of her books that deal with the same subject matter in the near furture.

Terrific erotic view of Amazons and the Macedonians. What was cultural rituals of ancient warrior women? Great read!!
