Lexi & Dez stole my heart. I laughed & I cried. There were moments when I wanted to reach through the screen & strangle someone (Usually Dez and Jayson were the victims in my imagination! ha!) -- One of my favorite parts of the story was when Lexi made Jayson pay for past taunts about her cat... I was laughing so hard I was crying! You'll know the part when you get to it, trust me!
Jolyn's characters are believable & heart-touching! I cannot wait for book 2 in this trilogy! Jolyn has a new fan in me & I plan on reading anything she puts out in the future, regardless of the sub-genre!
Lexi feels so safe with Dez, things have never been better, but lingering in the shadows in something evil. Something that is a threat to her very existence and to a love she knows has transcended through time.
Hold on to your seats because I am surprised as you are, I LOVED this story.
It is beautifully written and went in a direction I didn't truly expect. I know the book cover says Entwined Souls but it was surprising to me where the author takes us. I have to be careful because part of the charm of this book is the surprises.
These high school age characters wormed their way right into my heart and wouldn't let go. The range of emotions so vast and vivid. The setting, here in Wisconsin, places a native will recognize, even though the exact place in not named added to my enjoyment. I also loved the kitty in the story. One particular part had me laughing out loud.
I do not usually read young adult or much paranormal but it is books like this that have me changing my reading comfort level. If you are fan of these genres this a book to pick up today. If like me you are usually not comfortable in those areas this is the book and the author that will have you second guessing yourself. I am calling this one a must read and a perfect escape!!!
Having said that, I am currently feeling rather put out that I hadn't noticed it was a trilogy when I downloaded it to my kindle. Please put me out of my misery! When are you expecting to publish the next one? And why doesn't Amazon have a feature so that I can just order it now, so that I don't forget to do so!
Lexi is so strong willed. I loved that about her and I feel like Dez should give her more credit sometimes. That was the only thing I would have changed about the book. It would have been nice to see him really trust her. I liked that he finally confided in her, but he didn't really choose to do it- certain circumstances forced him into a confession. I wish it would have been because he wanted to share this with her. Lexi is strong and she was making such great progress. I felt like at times Dez held her back a little. Of course I could have also done with a little jealousy. Not anything annoying or overbearing, but maybe just a little interest from another guy to get Dez just a smidge shaken up. I'll admit that in moderation, jealousy can be exciting. In books, that is. In real life I can do without it, but for whatever reason I like a reasonably jealous main guy. But too much turns me off. Dez was not jealous at all, and he was great. I just felt like something was missing from his character.
The story in Amber Eyes just kind of floats along. It was never too slow, and certainly not too fast. The conflict didn't start until about half way into the book. That is a bit slow for me but I was loving the cute story so much that I barely even noticed until I was done and I started thinking about the book through my "review lens". But boy, oh boy the conflict is going to be a good one. I loved how it set up the next book. It is going to be good.Read more ›
