Holy Sh**. First Jon Chang put together Hayaino Daisuki and ripped us (Discordance fans) a new one with lightning speed thrash riffing doused in melody... now a few months later- we have this first release from his official new monstrosity since DAxis. And this does not let up. Ugly, terrifying, passionate fastcore/grind from the wastelands of so many RPG video games. The lyrics are brilliant, the riffs are retardedly fast, the artwork is breath taking. Jon Chang has done it again. Pure, efficient tech-grind. Suit up, thrash cowboys!!!

It's been a while since we've heard something from Jon Chang of Discordance Axis fame, and in the interim he's been busy producing a game - among other things. Anyway, it's a bit late (a couple of years, in fact), but it's finally here - Amber Gray.

I got this CD in the morning and put it in my car stereo on the way to work and listened to it for the entire 30 minute drive - only when I looked down at the track number did I realize it was halfway through the third loop when I turned it off. The music is so intense yet diverse enough in the mere 11 minutes and 52 seconds that the album runs that I was just completely floored and not even aware that the disc had started over - I haven't had that happen to me since the incredible Inalienable Dreamless album.

Anyway, if you're here, and you're a DA fan, buy this record right now. It's short, yes, but it kicks and makes no apologies, which is what Chang's music has always done best. Here's hoping we get more soon.
