Amber: Journeys Beyond--a tight and self-contained ghost story--begins when you visit a fellow scientist named Roxy. An avid paranormal researcher, Roxy has chosen her new home because she believes it is haunted. Using a host of unreliable detection devices, she plans to use this house as a laboratory. Her goal: proving the existence of psychic phenomena. Driving out to the house in a thunderstorm, you are run off the road by a shimmering apparition and are sent crashing into a lake. In short order, you discover other things have gone wrong--Roxy is in the garage, apparently dead. It's up to you to save yourself and the overzealous scientist from the forces lurking in the house. Patience and close attention to detail are musts for playing Amber: Journeys Beyond. Critical items are sometimes hard to spot, and one or two of the scenes take place in very dark locales. When you can see, the graphics are crisp and drawn with a faint gothic sensibility, surrounding the player in a milieu of creepy sounds and ghost-catching gadgets. The game is especially suited to beginning or younger gamers, as the problem-solving challenges are on the simple side. Even so, Amber: Journeys Beyond is spooky and engaging, a worthy electronic heir to campfire stories everywhere. Alyx Dellamonica

I originally played this game back when I had my old Win 98 system, and I loved it....Kept the CD;won't part w/ it. The graphics were good (for it's time) and the storyline all meshed together nicely. The puzzles were imaginative-not too hard, not too easy. Unfortunately, it DOES NOT run on XP, so the only way to play it is to install Win. 98/ME on another drive or partician yours off and install one of those older OS's on it to play.....I wish someone would buy the rights to that game (since the company who made it no longer exists) so that it can be updated to run on XP. If anyone out there has access to an old OS, likes RP games & doesn't mind older graphics....I HIGHLY recommend this one.

I purchased this game for my old system way back in '98. For 1996, the graphics are gorgeous. The story is interesting and the puzzles are fun. I felt a little sad when it all ended.

I contacted this game's company several years ago, asking for information about their game and if they were developing any other games. I received a very gracious reply.

The company had disbanded, as it wasn't financially possible to continue. The husband and wife team who headed this company are now in entirely different pursuits. I must say that they are some of the nicest people I've communicated with regarding a product. I wish them the best of luck...and wish they could have put out a some new games! :)

All in all, great people, great game, great time!

This game is a lot of fun for spook hunters and paranormal buffs. Amber: Journeys Beyond offers four different worlds of paranormal discovery and interesting puzzles to solve. Fascinating information shown throughout offers intriging ideas about ghosts and how they perceive their "lives" and environment. I wish they'd make an Amber: Journeys Beyond, Part II!
