5.0 out of 5 stars A favorite bath toy of my two and a half year old daughter
I bought this for my daughter because anything made by brio is great. All of their toys have been a hit at our house and this toy is no exception. My daughter loves the three little characters. I believe that they are a bear, dog, and a pig. Kaylie carries them everywhere. They even come apart so you can use them like a sieve in the tub. I didn't even know the mast...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's OK
This toy is cute, but I did find that the little men had screws in them that eventually rusted. I was concerned about that, so I had to throw away the tops of the men and just keep the bottoms. My son still plays with the boat, sail and bottoms of the men (we've had the toy for about 2 years). To keep the toys from rusting, you should probably dry it off after bathtime.

I believe that they are a bear, dog, and a pig. Kaylie carries them everywhere. They even come apart so you can use them like a sieve in the tub. I didn't even know the mast was a whistle until I saw my daughter using it one day. She has a great time blowing it. The thing I really like about this toy is that all of the pieces come apart so you can really get the water out of the toy after the bath is done. I have had to get rid of some toys that retained water because I was afraid of mildew and germs. This is another well made fun toy by an excellent company.

5.0 out of 5 stars We Love the Tub, October 2, 2001

I bought this for my daughter when she was 10 months old - it was highly recommended in a magazine. She is over 2 years old and still plays with it. The yellow top lifts off so you have a red bowl with holes to pour water. She still likes putting the little men in and out of the holes. The sail has a whistle, and she learned how to blow on this when 10 months old. This was her first whistle and she could hold it easily herself. She loves assembling and disassembling the toy. It is small so it travels well and is very durable. When my son was born, we learned that it was the first bathtime toy he would always reach for - perhaps due to the bright colors. This was well worth the price. I don't know about it's educational value, but I used it to help teach my daughter her colors. I suppose it also helped teach her the concept of in/out and helps wih manual dexterity.

My son would have loved this when he was 1 year old, but now that he is almost 3, he doesn't play with it as much. I think it is best suited for younger toddlers and that the age range is overstated.

That said, the toy is very durable and has so many features. There is so much to do, all packed into one little toy. We particularly like the whistle built into the sail.

I only wish that the water would drain out of the yellow part a little easier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bath Toy, November 25, 2003

My son who just turned two would stay in the tub for hours to play with toy. He loves to take it apart, play with the individual pieces and put it back together again. He identifies the colors and counts. He has to carry at least one of the animals out of the tube with him. It is easy to clean and retains no water. Overall an ideal bath toy

This bath tub toy has been a great hit for my 2 nephews ages 4 1/2 and 1 1/2. It's the only toy they play with now at bath time. They take it all apart and divide up the pieces so they each have something to play with. It was one of our Christmas gifts to them, and best of all.... it doesn't make noise like most of the other hi-tech toys they have! They have to use their imagination with this one, and have learned sharing.

Like a lot of people, I was looking for a quality tub toy that was fun for my 1 year old, but that was easy to dry when not in use in the tub. The BRIO Rub a Dub Tub is an excellent toy with many activities all in one! The characters pop out of the boat when submerged in water and they come apart at the middle. My son spends half his bath time putting them together and pulling them apart (great for hand eye coordination). I love the boat "bowl" which I use to rinse his hair and the mast is also a cool whistle. Every parent should check this great toy out. He doesn't even have to be in the bath to play with it. You won't be disappointed.

This toy works well for both my 4 and a half and nine month old. There is so much variety to it. I feel that this is a toy with the versatility I like for my children. I will definitely be able to use this a teaching bath tub toy. The whistle mast is a great surprise! Add water into the whistle and listen to the pitch change as the water empties. The base makes a great "shower" for rinsing hair. I could go on, but I think you get the point. Get this one...you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars multi-use bath toy, May 8, 2003

My two-year-old loves this. He has learned to blow the whistle. He enjoys taking the lid off and pulling the "sailors" apart. He loves to dunk the red base and try to drink the water before it pours out the holes, and he likes it when I let the water pour through them and over his arms. It's a simple age-appropriate bath toy - it's fun, safe, and he can do many things with it. My only caveat is that you have to shake each part a bit to get all the water out at the end of the bath, but that's not a big deal.

My 2 and 3 year old daughters love their Rub a Dub Tubs. Our 3 year old received two of these for her birthday. We were going to exchange one, but the girls asked to keep them both so they could have races. We not only use them in the tub, but also in our sensory table with sand or water. We plan to use them in the pool this summer. Our 3 year old loves to take the toy apart and put it back together, while our 2 year old loves to point out colors and annoy Daddy with the whistle.
The Rub a Dub Tub promotes small and large motor skills. I've used it to teach them colors and the concepts of big and small, and sink and float.
These toys are very durable. They have been dropped, thrown, stepped on, and gone traveling with us. BRIO is a great brand and all of their toys are very fun and durable. I would recommend this toy for anyone with children under five.
