4.0 out of 5 stars Technically Mainstream Trance
What a surprise greeted me when I played this CD. I expected ambient or chillout, but what I got was a driving trance CD. The tracks are an excellent example of powerful and driving synths, great beats, and mixes by masters like Scott Bond (of Gatecrasher fame) and John Digweed. Whoever labelled this CD as ambient has no clue what ambient is.

Another surprise is that...

3.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Price.
This isn't a great trance compilation, but it's definately worth 7 bucks. Intoxication, The Snake, and Futura 2000 are the highlights here, but nothing else here is really that impressing. The songs aren't mixed together. For a 2002 release, this mix actually sounds out of date. I thought it was from 1999. It's not a great mix, but for 7 dollars, I bought it.

Another surprise is that a CD this inexpensive can actually sound so nice. Note that this is not a continuous mix; each track stands alone. However, all the tracks on the CD are cohesive. In other words, this is not a hodgepodge of leftover trance cuts: it is a really fine collection. My recommendation: this is a good purchase for anyone who loves trance. I was certainly surprised at how good it was, especially given the discount price.
