I bought this cd released on the Interchill label a few months ago, simply titled 'Interior Horizons'. I'm not sure if the re-issue version (here at Amazon) has the exact same artwork design but the track listing is EXACTLY the same so it is indeed the same cd.The style of music is definately ambient/electronic but with a very exotic and cultural edge to it with dubby echoing fade-out beats. The artists featured on this album come from all parts of the world - everywhere from Sweden to Toronto, although most of them are Asian and much of the music has a definate Oriental sound to it. Favorite tracks include Makyo's "Skin soft as Moonlight", Drift's "Arc-en-ciel" and Legion of Green Men's "Beyond the Borderless". In fact, I highley reccomend this cd if you like cultural-instrumental-ambient music as well as the 'Barramundi' cds and most of the stuff released on Waveform records. Also, if you really dig this cd, check out the albums "Sutra Spin" and "Slowdiver" by Tom Vedvik as well as "Big Men Cry" by Banco de Gaia which are quite similar to this. Sensual, unusual, relaxing with a bit of a futuristic edge - I highley reccomend this cd!

This is what happens when you splice in dub music, ambient music, beautiful instrumentations, and a dash of indian and east asian cultural music (without being overbearing, as so many nu-skool asian/electronic fusion acts tend to be). This CD is a slow wave ride from start to finish, additonally Makyo's "Skin as Soft as Moonlight" is worth the price of the album alone.

This compilation is OK. Really nothing to rave about. Pick a few of the tracks and buy them, not the whole CD.

I think the lyrics from The Legion of Green Men's "Beyond The Borderless" sums it up from top to bottom:
"How infinite, the distance the eye within to the firmament there isn't any there or then always here... now... I reach the borderless beyond where nothing is absolute I alone am motionless I alone am still..." A multidimensional disk well worth multiple listens! |
