Purchased this item a few months ago, and it has exceeded my expectations. It does everything I could have asked for in such a simple device.

I have not scientifically tested the accuracy of the device, but it definitely does seem accurate. My console is located within a few feet of my furnace thermostat and they are always within 0.5F of each other. The remote sensor is located outside and I've compared the readings against what the local airport down the road reports and they're always within 1 - 2F of each other.

My only minor disappointment occurred when I unboxed the device to find out that the translucent bezel appearance (that's what I was expecting based on the picture), was just a white/gray painted border. Would have preferred the more modern look, but it's only cosmetic and doesn't detract from the performance of the device.

Overall, I am very pleased with the device. It does a good job at exactly what it advertises, for a very agreeable price point. I'll probably end up purchasing a 2nd unit so that I can have a console on the 2nd floor.

If you're like me and you're looking for a good quality low cost (but not junk) thermometer/hygrometer get this... You won't be disappointed.

I wanted a digital weather station that not only gave ambient temperature and humidity, but a direct read out of barometric pressure. This one does just that. It also has an "atomic clock" though I did need to set it up initially. So far the unit works as described.

It is easy to set up, though I did look through the instruction manual a little while I did so. It seems as if every one of these digital things has a slightly different set-up logic, but this one was fine. It was easier than a similar product from OreSci.

Be forewarned; this is a "hang-on-the-wall" unit. There is no stand.

The instrument takes some time to "equilibrate" to ambient conditions when you take it out of the box. The instructions mention this, and initially the temperature and humidity indicated were different from the unit I have on the wall. There is some averaging software (described in those instructions) in it; once it was on for a few hours, it showed good agreement with my OreSci unit.

I have not set up the remote sensor, and do not anticipate doing so.

This unit is going on my boat as an independent monitor of weather. If nothing else, it has a great display of time, date and weather.

I do not know how long the batteries last or how durable the unit is. Still, I believe that it should be as good as or better than the OreSci one on the wall; it is certainly more economical.

I like the unit, and would purchase another one if the need arose.

I just finished setting up my Ambient Wireless Weather Station Model WS-1285. Besides the usual indoor outdoor temperature and indoor humidity offered by their other model, this new unit offers outdoor humidity reading and a barometer. I found the unit very easy to program....actually after putting in the batteries and letting the unit stand for about 30 minutes, everything came on line with no further adjustments...Date/time was right and the temperature and humidity readings were within two tenths of a degree from each other (when the remote sensor was 10 feet away from the base unit) I find the readings on this inexpensive unit to be more accurate that those of my other weather station, a Davis Instrument Vantage Vue. The humidity and temperature readings on the Vue are up to 8 units off from the local weather info while the Ambient is right on. However the VUE does measure wind speed and direction as well as rainfall, which this model Abbient does not.

I would recommend the Ambient with no reservation. It even has a folding stand to make locating the unit on any flat surface easy.

When I ordered this weather station, only 1 person had rated it poorly and that had to do with figuring out how to set it up, so I ordered it. During the almost 2 months that I've owned it, the outdoor sensor is constantly "quitting"! I've tried lithium batteries, as suggested. It worked for a while & then quit AGAIN! I've replaced the batteries, taken the batteries out of the base unit to reset, etc. I've tried all of the things Ambient's website suggests. Sometimes it works for a while, but eventually it quits AGAIN! who needs that ?! Amazon graciously agreed to allow me to return it and that's what I'm doing. I can not recommend this unit to anyone.

I received Ambient Weather WS-1285 a few weeks ago. Everything worked perfect,
except for outdoor sensor. I tried everything possible to get it to work, but
nothing would display on indoor console.

I was just about to return unit to Amazon when I checked out Ambient Weather's website.
I'm so glad I did.

I used Ambient Weather's live chat service and talked to Ed. He was very patient
and understanding. After asking a few questions, he determined sensor was faulty. He
sent me a new sensor he personally tested. Sensor arrived via UPS within one week and
everything works perfect.

Ambient Weather has great customer service. I was very impressed with Ed.

The unit worked for about a week, the it would continually lose connection with the outside sensor that was only 25 feet away, even with the unit in the window it still had this issue. Then 3 months later the display started leo not show specific lines in the temperature, clock, date, icon. Became impossible to read.

Very easy to set up. Seems to be extremely accurate. This replaces a unit that I had for many years. Would highly recommend it.

I found the Ambient Weather station exactly what I anticipated. It is small enough to fit on my desk but be obtrusive. The outdoor unit is small and compact enough not to detract from the house. The programming was simple and straight forward. After I had the station two weeks, the indoor temperature malfunctioned. I contacted the company by email and was quickly answered back. After an explaining what the malfunction was, I was issued a replacement immediately. No fight, no hassle. The company reps were knowledgeable and courteous (something hard to find nowadays). I will recommend this company and their products to others.

This weather station by far is the best one Ive had, all the rest i had to return for reasons stated in my review. I love the layout and simplistic setup. The humidity and temperature have been measured against professional gauges and have been the most accurate out of all the others by far. What impressed me most was the range of the wireless sensor its the best but still not far enough, i have aluminum siding so i still have to put it around 50 feet the others were a joke at a maximum of 15 feet. The size is perfect its not too big and not to wide and the stand is right on what i would design unlike the other wobbly junk out there even though its kinda hidden. Ive had so many problems with the other junk that i almost gave up and stuck with my other analog gauges until a saw this one. I would highly recommend this weather station to anybody.

pros: simple to use and simple design, perfect size, accurate, wireless transmitter has a good range, affordable, still working, atomic clock immediately set the time

cons: no back light for night conditions

The outdoor sensor would not work. The main unit was fine, but I got it mainly to know what the temperature is outside. I tried placing it closer/further, tried different batteries, but finally decided it must be defective. So I returned it.
