This modem has been very reliable so far and saves me the monthly rental fee the cable company wanted to charge.

Like most other buyers, I bought this to replace the rental cable modem for which i had to pay 7 bucks plus tax to comcast every month. I couldn't decide if i should get the 70 bucks something DOCSIS 3.0 version which is what I rented from comcast or this 2.0 version. After some minor research, my conclusion is that for a performance comcast high speed internet package(20/5), the 3.0 version will not significantly boost the performance. So i decided to save me some money. I am happy so far. I did the speed test before and after the replacement, the results came out exactly the same, which proved my decision was right. Note that this model might not be on the recommended device list on the comcast website, but yes, it works just fine.

Reason I bought was because Comcast internet charges 7 dollars of month for renting one, by buying it in 8 months it will have paid for itself. Works just like the one I replaced.

I switched from AT&T DSL to Comcast Cable, and once I discovered the monthly cost of leasing a modem, I figured it made much more sense to buy one. Whichever you choose, make sure it's on your ISP's list of approved modems. It has worked flawlessly since February, is small an unobtrusive. I do plan to put some electrical tape across the indicator lights to obscure all those flickering LEDs.

The older grey version of this modem (same model # just grey), has worked fine for me for over 5 years now roughly. I get 15-20mbps all day and night.

After I receive this new modem, I will compare to the old one and update this review.

Oh and BTW, screw TWC for constantly raising fees! This will be my last year with their cable service for over 30 years now. I will continue to use them for internet service though :-)

EDIT: 08/20/13

I canceled this order because it sat around for 7 days and never shipped. 20 minutes after canceling, I ordered the same modem from a different site that start with an "E" and end with an "ay"...Anyways, 20 minutes after that, it was in the mail. 3 days later, it arrived at my house.

I cant comment on this sellers particular item because I never received it. What I can tell you is, that this modem works really good, just like the old gray one. And saves money on TWC bill.

I might be an unfortunate one. The modem was performing good but after serving for only 1.5 month the modem died. It died even after the return window. The thing happens the internet stays for 1 minute then gone.

This wasn't on the list of "approved" modems for Time Warner Cable, so it took longer to set up with customer service. However, it IS the updated version of the modem we had been renting from TWC for $6 a month. It works just fine for us, and cost less than half of what the "approved" modems seem to be going for.

I got tired of paying my fee every month to Time Warner for my cable modem, so I decided to purchase my own from Amazon. I went with this model because this is exactly what Time Warner was using and I liked the speeds I was getting 30Mbps.
Works great and saves me money!

Exactly what was needed. At the time of purchase, Time Warner charged monthly fees of $5.99 for modem rental. This is the exact same modem provided by Time Warner. Rather than continue to pay the unnecessary fees, purchase your own modem and start tracking your savings!
