From the Back Cover

Ambrose and his comrades have been marked for death by the emperor of
Byzantium. Having being chased from Alexandria and crossing North Africa, they flee north through Italy, doggedly pursued by the Byzantine Admiral Demetrious. The Church attempts to help them, but the Byzantine Emperor has a very long reach. With the pass to France blocked for the winter, they find themselves trapped in northern Italy. Assassins come in the night, and their guides are bribed to kill them. Before the friends can escape through France to England, they must face avalanche, bandits, and savage Viking raiders.

About the Author

Bruce Corbett divides his time between his home on Ile Perrot, just west of Montreal, and his wife's family cottage in scenic Entralac, Quebec. After counselling teenagers and adults for over 40 years, he retired to concentrate on his writing and photography. To date, he has written a collection of Science Fiction short stories, which are now available individually or as a newly-released ebook. Two Science Fiction novels await the final editing. The project closest to his heart, however, is his series of historical novels based on a fictional hero, Ambrose, a Prince of Wessex, set in the time of Alfred the Great. There are now nine novels in the series.

This is an exciting adventure. I learned a lot of history and enjoyed the action. The story was fast paced, and I enjoyed the interplay of the main characters. I highly recommend this story.
