Editorial Reviews

Ambush at Cimarron Pass is a 1958 western and the only film directed by film editor Jodie Copelan. The film stars Scott Brady (Johnny Guitar) and screen legend Clint Eastwood (A Fistful of Dollars) in his first western. Leading a small platoon of cavalry soldiers while escorting a dangerous prisoner through treacherous Indian Territory, Sgt. Matt Blake (Brady) is forced to rely upon a group of ex-Confederates headed by Capt. Sam Prescott (Frank Gerstle) and Ramrod Keith Williams (Eastwood) to successfully complete his mission. Released one year before Rawhide, Eastwood was third billed in Ambush at Cimarron Pass, he was no longer a bit player, but not yet a star. Margia Dean co-stars with a supporting cast of Irving Bacon, William Vaughn, and Baynes Barron.

Maybe not Clints best western, but he was billed as the 3rd star. You can see his Rawhide character coming to the top.More of a "B" type western. The story, acting, and scenery is all good.EXCELLENT transfer delivered from Olive films. This Olive Films from Chicago does a wonderful job of remastering films.Check out their website....support your favorite artists

Ambush at Cimaron Pass didn't move quickly enough for my Guests. They prefer more action and for the action to be rapidly moving. Otherwise, the movie had convincing, professional Actors such as Clint Eastwood, Scott Brady, and Broderick Crawford. For those who appreciate black and white films with lovely landscape shooting, this is a good movie. Go for it, but understand it does move more slowly than other Westerns.

I believe this was Clint Eastwood's third western movie to be cast in and not a recognizable name at that point (1958), but being a collector of his westerns I was interested in this one, interested and liking it enough to order the Blu-ray disc after watching it on Amazon Prime.

A great western for fans who love the oldies and the plot format! The action will keep you interested as well as the landscape.

Just great looking at movies that are 30+ years old. This was one of the first movies that Clint Eastwood was in and it was fun to watch him as a young actor.

I was really disappointed - there were options for how the movie could play out, but the move just screeched to an end. It was kind of like the director thought, "I'm almost out of film, let's end it..."
