I wasn't a huge fan of season 1, but the show just gets better from here. It's worth picking this season up to really understand some of the longer arcs of the show.

It's not that I think that it is objectively terrible, but just that I don't think I'm its target audience. It's for much younger people, children, in my opinion. The dialog is pretty silly, etc. Put it this way, if you think that episode 1 (with Jar Jar Binks and all) is really great, then you'll be happy with this. I'm more of a 70s-80s era Star Wars fan.

I waited until several months ago to give this series a try. I was put off by the animation style as well as the idea of Anakin having a padawan. It seemed like a silly idea, purposely directed at children. Boy was I wrong.

This series is one of the finest testaments to Star Wars. It is an expertly crafted story with the same quality you would expect from any Star Wars production. Whomever created this series put their heart into it. On many occasions this series outshines the movies in both story and even visually. I have watched all the way up to Season 5, episode 20 and I feel privileged that I got to see it. I almost don't want to finish the final episodes because then I'll have to wait. I've no doubt I'll rewatch this series again soon once I do finish it.

When I first read the reviews I saw people raving about how their children love this series. Don't be dissuaded by this. This series will be equally appreciated by adults and at some points I'd mark it around PG-13 in terms of content. The dialog is also written in a way that it will be enjoyed by all ages. I also hope the parents of those children are lucky enough to watch this series as well. It's one heck of a treat for anyone who enjoys Star Wars.

Well? Why are you still reading this? Go buy it. Get the HD version as well. I purchased the Standard version for Season 1, but HD for the rest and, oh my goodness, was it the right choice. Some of the battles could only be fully appreciated in HD.

This show came out in 2008. I let the "oh I'm not really into animated stuff" mentality keep me from watching it until 2014. What the hell was I thinking? What a waste, because this show is seriously awesome. If the new Rebels show is half this good I'll be obsessively tuning in every week like a Breaking Bad addict. However, if I could, I would give this show 4.95 stars, solely because every time I watch this show and love every second of it, I get just a little bit angrier that we had to wait THREE YEARS after THE WORST STAR WARS MOVIE EVER for that forced 142 minute crapfest that was Attack of the Clones, when we could have watched 2 movies based on some of the story arcs for this show. I mean seriously, that prancing through the meadows of Naboo, falling in love with a girl twice your age BS made me want to put a knife through my trachea. Okay sorry to go on a "Lucas raped my childhood rant" but yeah this show is awesome. The plot, dialogue, and voice acting are so good anyone should like it but if you're a Star Wars it's an absolute must.

Not to be compared to the original trilogy. It is awesome in its own way, and unlike the prequel trilogy, you get to see how Obi-Wan and Anakin may actually have been good friends, as Obi-Wan told Luke in the original film.
Anakin's not angry, sullen or brooding all the time like in the live-action prequels...he's actually likeable.
I was skeptical at first and put-off a bit by the computer animation. But like all things I like best, I acquired a taste for it...and it only took an episode or two.
Perfect, no. Awesome, yes.

MUCH better than the movies. Better characters, better interactions, better plots, and nothing that makes you want to throw things except for the unfortunate presence of Jar Jar Binks. At least the presence of Ziro the Hutt - a Hutt version of Truman Capote, and just as funny as that sounds - and Hondo Ohnaka, the best pirate captain in SF, more than make up for that.

Overall, five stars. And don't miss the Star Wars version of the Seven Samurai!

I am a Die hard Star Wars MOVIE fan. I have read some of the "expanded'' universe novels; some are interesting, most that I have read do nothing for me. I guess i never really wanted to know what happened outside of the movies. Much like the 'mid-action' opening of the original STAR WARS, i have always felt that the things that did not get shown in the movies were not the main focus of the story. Yeah the prequels did fill in some of the gaps (in my opinion - Lucas filled in gaps that didnt need to be filled in while totally ignoring glaringly important missing pieces - but i digress), and helped flesh out some of the meaning of things. But the expanded universe (TO ME) just never had the UMMPPHH of the movies (the original trilogy mostly).
so i was with trepidation that i started watching the clone wars tv series (not on first run, but a streaming site which shall remain nameless LOL). And whether its because i went in with so much 'reserve' or because i have a grandiose vision in my head of what the back stories should be like/about; in either case - this series falls flat for me. The story told in 'truncated' fashion (sorry, in my opinion, star wars should not be in 25 min segments) cuts into the heart of the story. The voice over announcement at the beginning of each episode (while i know a nod to Lucas's love of early cinema serials) is beyond annoying, the 'quote' that starts each episode becomes 'lamer' as the seasons wear on, and the overall story just seems to be filing up space. I admit i am not a fan of a lot of animation, and the rendering on this is an example of why. To me it just doesnt add anything (and in several episodes, takes away from) to the movies.
one of my biggest complaints is the whole Anakin has a padwan story line... WHAT??!!!??!?!?.
