a big disappointment, January 14, 2006
This review is from: Amchurch Comes Out: The U.S. Bishops, Pedophile Scandals and the Homosexual Agenda (Hardcover)
The connection between the priest sexual abuse scandal and the subversion, even defiance, of Vatican instruction on homosexuality by chancery bureaucrats, theology instructors and seminary staff in North America is a huge story for all Catholics that definitely warrants a book length treatment. Unfortunately, the assembly of this book is so poor as to likely hurt rather than help the cause of those Catholics alarmed by this situation.
The book is probably the most poorly written and edited text I have ever seen, with numerous grammatical errors and non sequiturs. There is no attempt to organize any material chronologically, and Likoudis' attempts to organize the material into themes is haphazard and illogical, resulting in just a laundry list of clerical and episcopal statements and actions that Likoudis finds personally offensive.
Even though its main focus is on seminary activities, I believe that Michael Rose's
Goodbye, Good Men: How Liberals Brought Corruption Into the Catholic Church would be a much better choice for a purchase of a book on this subject.
