I chuckled as I have read reviews for different timers. I am buying one of these for my daugher -- I already have one. Folks, for a manual timer to work you must first turn it all the way to 60 minutes, then back it up to your desired minutes. The FULL turn winds it so that when it gets to zero it will ring. Hope this is helpful

WORKS GREAT EVERY TIME.

My Amco 60-Minute Timer, Nickel has great retro style and works like a charm. Have had it about a month, and have probably used it about a dozen times.

It's a manual timer so, of course, you first wind it all the way to the maximum (that's 60 minutes for this product), and then UN-wind (wind backward), stopping at the desired number of minutes. That's it! Let go of the dial, put the timer down, and you're done. Takes two seconds.

I can hear the timer's bell from a couple of rooms away (when not listening to music or the television). When in the same room with the timer, the first time the bell went off I was startled, but after that first time I didn't find it to be too loud or uncomfortable.

So far, the timer is 100% accurate (which is always a question when using a new manual timer) so I'm relaxing into an easy relationship with my cute-as-can-be timer.

And, I really appreciate that it has a rubber bottom that is wider than its top, so it doesn't slide around at all and is difficult to knock over (even if you were trying to).

I recommend this timer without hesitation, and am thinking it would make a good holiday stocking-stuffer, too.

The timer looks nice and it rings nice and loud for a few seconds. The ticking is a little louder than I would like but it lets you know you've got something cooking=) I was very happy with this timer but now that I have owned it for three months it has become unreliable. Sometimes it finishes just great any many times it gets stuck with five minutes left to go and it never ends up ringing. I bring the timer almost to 60 and then put it on the minutes I want and it still never ends up ringing because it gets stuck. I looked at it today and it was set for three-five minutes- I had set it yesterday for 10 minutes. Lucky for me I went by the clock and didn't burn my food.

Simple but looks good. I'm fed up with digital timers that are not well made, eat batteries and haven't always been that accurate.

This has a long, loud ring (great for my poor hearing) and rings a bit early so you have time to get back to the kitchen before things are burned.

Despite reading poor reviews, I went against my better judgement and ordered it anyway. It looks great, but does not actually countdown and ring. I had to use a backup timer every time I used it, which defeats it's purpose. It lives in a landfill now.

My wife melted the last two timers that I gave her and two others wouldn't keep time well. This one solves both of those problems.

The timer stops ticking down randomly. You Can't trust it not to burn your dinner. The Bell doesn't go off!
