4.0 out of 5 stars Great for what you need
This is a great sifter for all your cooking needs. I have only one thing against it(the reason it has 4 not 5 sars). The spring is too strong in the handle. If you use this much you will either be very tired or have forearms like Popeye!! Still over all a good sifter.

2.0 out of 5 stars Does not measure up
I do not like this sifter at all because it starts out sifting while using the spring action handle and then it stops sifting after a few pulls and you end up having to shake the sifter to get the flour out. Now I see why it's up as a clearance item. Don't waste your money if you are buying it for its intended purpose. You might get by with doing a cup, but no way will it...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous sifter!, February 16, 2008

I've used this sifter now for nine years and it is absolutely fabulous! It hasn't the first sign of rust at all after all those years of use, tossing it into the dishwasher, etc. I cannot recommend it enough. It's easy to use, quite powerful, and the flour, etc. is sifted before you know it. It has such a large capacity that it makes the job a ton smoother. Highly, highly recommend!

You might get by with doing a cup, but no way will it do more without shaking it and hitting it against your other hand. This one was a let down. I ended up ordering the hand cranking kind because I know they work pretty good.

1.0 out of 5 stars Broken after a few uses, July 28, 2009

This sifter is poorly made and lasted me a half-a-dozen uses before it completely broke. The turning mechanism separated from the mesh pieces. I hadn't relized this until after I had filled it with powdered sugar, so I had to manually smack the sifter against my hand in order to get the powdered sugar out. Extremely laborious and irritating. Even before it broke I didn't like how it worked. The spring on the handle was really tight so the squeezing action made my hand fatigued before my sifting jobs were even close to being done.

Although this product is listed as stainless steel, it got rusted in 4 months of use. Also, I does not work very well, when sifting flour, the flour will stuck between the blades after few pulls. I will try to make a video review showing the rusts and the stuck flour. Don't waste your money with this product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst product ever, April 4, 2009
This review is from: Amco 5-Cup Sifter (Kitchen)
My wife and I bought this with money given to us at our wedding. One morning we decided to make waffles and about one cup into the sifting and I was so frusterated. I have helped my mother cook before and she has a crank sifter, which obviously works. This is by far the worst product i have ever used. I threw it away so that I would be forced to buy a new one the next time I needed a sifter. My advice is that you never purchase this, you are better off burning your money for heat!

I got this sifter because my old one was a last-generation inheritance and on its last legs, but I swear, the old one works better than this one does. Two sifts in, you have to hit the side to get the flour to move around, and, worse, its inner gears are either rusting or wearing away to discoloration after only a month of using it every morning for pancakes. For the time being, I'm going back to my ancient sifter.

After much research on Amazon, I finally chose this as the most likely to work. It was a gift for my wife who loves to bake. However, several weeks after it arrived it stopped working. The little wheels no longer spin when one squeezes the handle. Lousy quality. And since its been more than 30 days, I can't return it either. Do yourself a favor and buy a product that works.

Well designed, ergonomic sifting masterpiece. Stainless steel construction means superior longevity. Supplier shipped it very quickly, even during the last of the holiday rush. Happiness has been restored in the mind of the family baker, at last.

I have had this about a year. Not really into baking, I have only used it 5 times. Totally CHEAP! It is already in the trash. Do not waste your time.
