5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome mixing bowl
This thing is just the ticket for any kind of mixing. Plenty deep, nice finish, and easy to clean.

1.0 out of 5 stars not really 8 quart
The bowl is stamped 8 quart on the bottom but holds only 6 quarts of water!(?) I needed a bowl that holds 8 Quarts and I am sure that if the bowl says 8 Quart it should hold 8 Quarts. Something about weights and measures no? I am very disappointed and supprised this product is being offered at all. Will the 12 quart bowl hold 10 quarts?

5.0 out of 5 stars A surprising find..., November 7, 2009

I own the 2 qt, 3 qt, 4.5 qt, and the 6.5 qt Amco stainless-steel mixing bowls. The review below is copied-and-pasted from my review of the 2 qt bowl. The bowls are all basically the same except for (obviously) capacity. One caveat--when I purchased this item, it was advertised as a 8 quart mixing bowl. Amazon has since revised the listing and it now more accurately shows a capacity of approximately 6.5 quarts.

***My 2-Quart Review***
Growing up, my parents had a set of nestable, stainless-steel mixing bowls in approximately 2 quart, 4 quart, 8 quart, and 12 quart sizes. We used them for everything--beating eggs, mixing a cake, marinating meats, etc. They were versatile, but thin walled and over the years, took a beating.

I was looking for a set of stainless-steel bowls, similar to those my parents had, for similar purposes. I had considered the All-Clad Stainless Mixing Bowl Set when I came across this Amco 2-Quart Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl (along with the Amco 3-Quart Stainless Steel Mixing bowl, the Amco 4.5-Quart Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl, and the Amco 6.5-Quart Stainless-Steel Mixing Bowl. Between the 4 individual bowls, I paid less than half what the All-Clad set would have cost me. Unfortunately, I was taking a gamble on quality as I am a fan (and user) of All-Clad cookware and know first hand the fine workmanship they put into their products. My take was that if these items turned out to be like the bowls my parents had, I'd ditch them in a few years for another set and still have gotten some good use out of them.

I was pleasantly surprised when I received the Amco products. They are heavy, solid, with a thicker gauge of stainless-steel that would seem to resist dents. There is a heft to these bowls. The matte finish resists scratches. They are dishwasher safe. They have a flattened bottom as to sit on a countertop without rolling around. All in all, I am glad I went with the Amco bowls and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for these basic kitchen tools.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for popcorn!, April 30, 2009

Great popcorn in a mixing bowl? Yes, after watching Alton Brown on the Food Network make popcorn with a stainless steel mixing bowl I decided to give it a try. And guess what? It works great! The steep bowl walls help keep the popcorn kernels on the bottom where they can heat up and pop. For the exact recipe go the Food Network:

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice, deep, well-finished stainless bowl...., October 15, 2005

and a super buy at $9.99 from the 'Friday Sale'. The same deepness that I like (5-1/2") may prove a little fatiguing to the shorter cook when vigorously stirring or whisking.

5.0 out of 5 stars well made product, August 29, 2008

These stainless bowls are thick, have a nice finish, and are extremely well made. I bought my wife a full set, I liked them so much I purchased another two for my dogs.

The entire "it doesn't hold 8 quarts" is insignificant to me. I choose a bowl from my cabinet based on its visual size, not what's stamped on the bottom. It's not like they are measuring spoons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pefect large mixing bowl!, November 12, 2008
This review is from: Amco 6-Quart Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl (Kitchen)
This stainless steel mixing bowl is a perfect addition to my kitchen supplies. My grandmother always had a large stainless steel bowl she used for so many things in the kitchen...and I wanted one too that I knew would last throughout the years. This Amco bowl is definitely durable and I can see myself still using it 20, 30, 40 years from now! I've had it several months and there is a scratch or two from my hand mixer, but that's to be expected. I have the 6 quart bowl too ...just wish I had more of the smaller sizes. Great for mixing up casseroles, cookies, shelling beans, sharing lots of popcorn, marinating meat, soaking a stained shirt....the uses are endless!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Bowl, Deep and Heavy, January 7, 2008
This review is from: Amco 6-Quart Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl (Kitchen)
This a great bowl. Nice and heavy, well made. And deep too. My mother had a nice big stainless steel bowl that I used all the while growing up. She still has it, even with the little dent. Now I have a nicer one. And I am sure it will still be around when my daughters have their own daughters. That's how nice of quality it is. I just wish Amazon sold the 12 quart size so I could get Free Shipping on that one too. I will definately buy this brand again.

Probably I lead a very cloistered life... this is one of the best kitchen items I've bought. If you are thinking about spending a little extra and getting a steel bowl then you will be happy with this one. Heavy enough but not super heavy. Every time I use it, I enjoy not having a plastic bowl spinning away or spilling by tipping over. It cleans up easy and still looks great after about 6 months of light use.

As for the 8 quart thing, I guess if you need super accuracy or have some reason to need to fill the bowl to 8 quarts then you will have to research it more to find the one you need. Apparently it is a nominal title having little bearing on reality.

I highly recommend it.
