These stainless-steel tongs are a useful gadget. The spatula-like rubber paddles at the end of each tong mean that no metal touches the salad, which is a boon when working with acidic dressings and fruits that might react badly to some metals. The paddles also have slots in them, which allows a dressing to be distributed more evenly. While opening wide enough to make room for large croutons or other big salad items, these tongs also sport a rectangular ring near the top that slides into place to lock them closed for storage in a drawer or countertop jar. High quality, solid, well made. Unfortunately not grippy enough for heavy items which will slip out. But as with the other Amco products, a pleasure to use.

I used these once turning pork cutlets - - I thought the food tasted funny but didn't comment on it. However, my family all expressed the same reaction -- the meat tasted "odd" and sure enough when I smelled the tongs they smelled "odd". I have washed them several times but they still have a new plastic smell. I am reluctant to use them and ruin more food. I may try soaking them in baking soda - anyone else have any suggestions to remove the off smell/taste?
