Amco Coffee Tamper

There was no picture provided on this tamper when I bought it on Amazon so I trusted that they were all basically designed the same, but this one is rounded on the bottom which would make it hard to evenly tamp the coffee grounds, also it was a bit small.

I love the smooth lines of this compact tamper - quite artful. It's a fairly lightweight, hollow tamper, and this could be a plus or a minus depending on your preference.

The tamping surface has a nice smooth polish. The convex curve of the tamper is probably a European Curve (certainly more than the shallower American Curve).

One important note is that the size is not as advertised. I've seen this tamper many places, and it's diameter is always specified as 2" or 51mm. The actual diameter is 47mm (close to 1 7/8"). I have a feeling that Amco has provided incorrect specifications since all vendors have the identical, but incorrect diameter.

It does the job, is nice looking and easy to clean. Curved edges not my favorite.

Not worth the money...the plastic one I have works better. This one is way to small and light to do the job properly.

Really? This is supposed to be a tamper, instead of a smooth flat bottom it's rounded, pretty much exactly what you don't want to have. What a waste of perfectly good aluminum.

I purchased this tamper, not knowing if it was going to be the proper size. I thought it was going to be a durable accessory for my expresso machine. I have to say, I absolutely love it!! It was the perfect size for my small espresso machine. I would recommend this tamper, it is durable and easy to clean. Extremely happy with my choice!

I should have heeded the warning of the other reviewers, but I was optimistic. I thought the rounded bottom wouldn't matter, but the big problem is it slips and slides when you apply pressure, making it useless for tamping grounds in the filter basket. If I wasn't so lazy I'd send it back because I will never use this and I will be going back to using the plastic piece that came with my espresso machine (Cuisinart EM-100). I also agree with the other reviewers' complaints that it is too light weight and not the same size as advertised. It does look nice, it feels nice in your hand, and the quality is decent so I couldn't give it only one star, but you are better off using the back of a spoon for tamping than using this for anything other than decoration.
