Amco 8454 Food Mill

I don't get it. This is my first food mill, so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I bought it to make purees for my baby. I like the idea of a fairly small food mill, and a not so expensive one because I'm not quite sure what else I'd use it for. I put a bunch of steamed peas in it, turned the handle, and nothing came out. I turned the handle the other way, and nothing came out. It's like the peas wouldn't go under the blade thing. I went back to shoving the peas through a strainer with a spoon. So far totally useless for me.

We picked this up at a local restaurant supply store. The tolerances are all screwed up, such that the centering hole which is supposed to keep the pusher plate in the middle of the bowl instead lets it slip out. The result is that it ineffectually mushes everything around without pushing anything through the holes. Don't waste your time.

I like to make my baby's food. I thought this food mill would work better than my mini Cuisinart, but it is just sitting on my shelf after I tried it a few times. I like the size of it, but to puree a small amount of food, it doesn't work because I think it needs a full bowl of food. I usually give her a small portion of what we eat for dinner, but that small portion literally just stays in the bowl and doesn't grind through........

I like that it is stainless steel but it worked poorly. The size was really too small to use. The seeds were constantly getting stuck and I was having to take it apart each time and remove the seeds. Once the seeds were stuck, you cannot turn the handle at all.
