My Amco 60-Minute Timer, Nickel has great retro style and works like a charm. Have had it about a month, and have probably used it about a dozen times.
It's a manual timer so, of course, you first wind it all the way to the maximum (that's 60 minutes for this product), and then UN-wind (wind backward), stopping at the desired number of minutes. That's it! Let go of the dial, put the timer down, and you're done. Takes two seconds.
I can hear the timer's bell from a couple of rooms away (when not listening to music or the television). When in the same room with the timer, the first time the bell went off I was startled, but after that first time I didn't find it to be too loud or uncomfortable.
So far, the timer is 100% accurate (which is always a question when using a new manual timer) so I'm relaxing into an easy relationship with my cute-as-can-be timer.
And, I really appreciate that it has a rubber bottom that is wider than its top, so it doesn't slide around at all and is difficult to knock over (even if you were trying to).
I recommend this timer without hesitation, and am thinking it would make a good holiday stocking-stuffer, too.
This has a long, loud ring (great for my poor hearing) and rings a bit early so you have time to get back to the kitchen before things are burned.
Con: Unreliable. It only works when it feels like it.
It's possible that I may be using it incorrectly. However, with other manual timers I wind it to 58-59 seconds then back to my desired minutes and it works! (I don't put it at 60 because that's guaranteed to not work for some reason.) The mechanism in this Amco timer needs to be looked at by the manufacture; it's unpredictable when it will complete the cycle and ring. Often times, it'll stop around 11 minutes and 6 minutes.
Save your money, and spend a few dollars more to get a better timer.
