5.0 out of 5 stars I love these measuring cups...
I have two sets of these. They're sturdy & clean up easily. No worries about them melting in the dishwasher either. In fact, when measuring butter or shortening, I heat them just a little so the contents slip out easily. No scraping!

2.0 out of 5 stars Handles Break Off Easily
Loved how these cups function but once placed in the dishwasher 2-3 times, the handles easily came off. They seem to just be glued on. Don't recommend.

I can't recommend these measuring cups. The handles aren't very strongly attached; shortly after I purchased a set, I was holding the one-cup measuring cup by the handle while it was full of flour, and the cup snapped off and fell to the floor.

I was concerned when I bought these and saw that the handles and cups are two separate pieces (it's just something that can break). Well, they broke. I was drying off the 1-cup today and the handle just fell off... I wasn't even applying any force. They have never even been in a dishwasher. What a piece of junk. I bought them because they are recommended by Alton Brown -- but now I'm going to look for something that is better quality. AVOID THESE, THEY WILL BREAK.

1.0 out of 5 stars Could be better if they were accurate, December 25, 2007
This review is from: Amco Basic Ingredients Stainless Steel Measuring Cups, Set of 4 (Kitchen)
These would be great if they were marked correctly. In my set, the 1 cup measuring cup is inscribed with the legend "1/3 cup". Nice quality control, guys. If you are looking for precision, look elsewhere.

I prefer the weight of stainless steel over plastic. The accuracy of this 4 piece set of measuring cups is excellent (vs. Calphalon stainless steel set--the 1 cup measures 5.5 ounces of flour, but should be 5.0) Great design, just the right handle length, and the measurements carved into the handles make them easy to read (again vs. Calphalon set), and they are easy to level with a knife. This Amco set is comfortable, with just the right amount of heft, and they feel well-balanced and do not tip over like some other sets I have used in the past. Only drawback is the lack of 2/3 and 3/4 cups, otherwise they are perfect and well worth the money. A great gift for any cook or baker...or yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Have used these almost daily for 8 years with no problems, November 21, 2011
This review is from: Amco Basic Ingredients Stainless Steel Measuring Cups, Set of 4 (Kitchen)
I came here to order a set of these as a gift for a friend and I am quite surprised at the negative reviews because I've never had a problem with these measuring cups. I bought my set eight or so years ago and have been using it almost daily for dry and wet ingredients. The handles are properly (and permanently) attached and they would only bend if pressed down heavily and purposely.

I use them all the time with heavy ingredients like sugar, just scooping the sugar out of the container, and the handles never bend.

It really is unfortunate that the first and 'most helpful' reviews on here happen to be the negative ones written several years ago because, based on my experience, these are well made kitchen utensils which I would recommend to friends and family without reservation.

I've had these cups for almost two years now and never once had a problem with them. They work well, stand up in the dishwasher well, and easy to store. As others have noted the handles are separate and look loosely attached, but for me they've always worked well. My biggest complaint is that sometimes the handles bend a bit in the middle, but it's easy enough to straighten them back out.

Purchased these after I saw the recommendation from America's Test Kitchen. So far, so good after 20+ uses we have no complaints. Not to heavy, not to light, easy to read the markings of the size on the cups. Happy with the purchase.

I did see some reviews about handles bending, no sign of that yet but if it ever happens I'll edit it in. So far so good though.

The first thing I learned in cooking , measuring accuracy is the first step in successful recipes. I own all Amco measuring cups and spoons.
