Good for an Occasional Squeezer!,
By John in Big D (Dallas, TX United States) - See all my reviews

We have the orange, lemon, and lime squeezers. Ease of squeeze diminishes as size increases and fruit becomes firmer. An older, drier orange would be almost impossible for Hulk Hogan to get a drop out of. A small, juicy lime would be a whiz for an arthritic grandma.
Our objections are, the enamel peels off where the juice contacts it most strongly and repeatedly, so that bits of paint fall in your food preparations; the acid in the juice attacks the bare aluminum and causes pitting; waxy coatings from the fruit which build up on the inside surfaces of the juicers attract dirt and mildew and are virtually impossible to remove; and finally, the pin that holds the pieces together is steel and rusts. Although these juicers get the juice out, we're now looking for an all stainless steel model with long enough handles so it doesn't take a lot of strength to juice a lemon, and doesn't shed paint and collect crud that can't be removed.

good design works, but bad enamel doesn't stand up for long,

I've had both the yellow lemon squeezer and the green lime squeezer for nearly a year -- and now both of them are loosing their enamel. We use them a lot -- and I expected more.
Also, they don't give up the natural oils of the rinds in the dishwasher, and end up having to be washed by hand periodically. The small bowl shape is a real mess to try and clean. I'm going with stainless steel next time.

A great kitchen tool! Works unbelievably well. I've had every kind of citrus juicer, including the electrics, and this gadget does the best job - it's efficient, fast, easy to clean and no seeds. The lemon squeezer is also great. If you like guacomole or margaritas...this is for you.

If you're like I used to be, you probably try to get juice from limes by stabbing them with forks, twisting futilely with juice-covered hands, while seeds, excess pulp, and a very little juice fall into whatever you're trying to lime up. Then I got one of these (and the yellow lemon-sized one as well), and life has never been the same since. It just works. Counterintuitively, you place the flat side of a lime half face-down into the rounded bowl-like opening of the squeezer, then press the handles together. A surprising amount of juice comes out with very little effort, and it all flows straight down through the strainer holes (as opposed to spraying all over the kitchen). The whole thing is enamel-covered steel, so it's very sturdy, and dishwasher-friendly. I couldn't be happier with it.

Get alot out of your lime for little effort,

Our family squeezes alot of lime juice for our Vietnamese dipping sauce and this squeezer is very effective in squeezing out every last drop, while keeping the seeds out and your hands clean. Making lemonade has never been easier.

This baby squeezes with little effort. No more rolling the lime and wearing out my hand trying to squeeze. No more seeds in my drinks! May be a little awkward for some to get your hands around the handles.

I bought three of these, one for myself and two for gifts over the holidays. They are great. Some lime squeezers are flimsy, prone to breakage. This one is easy to use, easy to clean, strong, well designed and handsome. Perfect for margaritas, guacamole, Thai and Peruvian cooking, for all of which I have employed mine. Great little tool.

There is nothing wrong with the way this is designed or made; it's just that it's unnecessary, because you can squeeze limes with one of the bigger ones made for lemons or even oranges. I actually think it's easier to use one that's a little bigger; this one is actually borderline too small for some limes.

I had the lemon squeezer but it was too big for key limes, so I got a combo unit, but it was bulky and cumbersome so I switched to this one and really like it. Here's why. Small lemons fit fine as do key limes which are tiny and of course regular limes. In the summer when citrus is not normally in season the fruits can be especially thick skinned and have bumps on the end. I avoid the thick skinned ones which have less juice and are harder to squeeze and if there's a bump I cut it off prior to squeezing as I get a more complete result.
The unit does well in the dishwasher top shelf where I can lay it open for most effective cleaning, but sometimes I just rinse it off and it's fine. Since the size works for all the fruits I use, I've been able to get rid of the other units and simplify. I've tried several other methods for occasional squeezing of small citrus including a wood reamer, a small soft plastic pocket that the lemon or lime fits inside before hand squeezing, my hand of course and other squeezers similar to this one. None have suited me completely until I got this one. Either the seeds were a problem or I had to wash my hands following use, some units broke or were too big and awkward. This one is effective, my hands stay clean and it's easy to wash. I can finally stop my search. Highly recommended.

Overall it seems very durable, and does its job very well. I really have nothing bad to say about them. The color is very nice and bright and these are perfect for cooking, making cocktails, etc. I purchased the lemon, lime, and orage squeezers together, however if you don't wish to spend too much money you can buy one. I would recommend buying either the lemon squeezer (medium sized) or the orange squeezer (large sized) depending on your needs, they will do the same job squeezing so long as the citrus fruit fits.
