5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, very sturdy
I just got these and I'm impressed with their construction: the steel is nice and thick, so they won't bend or warp, and they have a nice weight to them so they won't tip over. They remind me of the all-clad set I see on cooking shows, but obviously at a fraction of the cost.

One very minor caveat: only one ring is included with the set. The spoons are attached to it. If you like to keep your cups on a ring, you may need to appropriate one from an old set. But it's not necessary.

The first set arrived with the handle attached to the one cup measuring cup crooked. When you held the handle the cup was tilted and not level. The set was returned as "defective" and a replacement ordered.

The replacement set had the handle on the one cup attached also at an angle.

The measuring cups have the handles spot welded to the bowls and are therefore not "one piece" as advertised.

For the price, this might be "good enough" but for me it lacked quality control and was not acceptable.

If you look for this in a store, it will cost the same for just the cups so getting both the cups and spoons is a great deal. Unlike the other reviewer, I do not mind the lack of a ring. The only drawback that may become a problem in the future is that the cup is not one piece, but welded. I can see that wearing out after a while, but for now they are perfect. The spoons are one piece.

I plan to also buy the two cup measure and the odd cups. I wish this company made an odd spoons set too! This is great and I think it would be an excellent gift for bakers. Nearly perfect in every way.

The measuring cups and spoons are a nice addition to my kitchen. The markings are easy to read and the handles are sturdy. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a quality set of measuring spoons and cups.

I love, love these cups and spoons. As a culinary arts teacher/caterer, I can tell you they are the best. They make measuring accurately very easy and are extremely durable. I have purchased them for gifts many times.

When I open it, I start to feel disappointed. Some unknown black oil remains on two cups and all handles. I guess the black oil is used for stainless polishing. It is ok to wipe clean the black oil. Then, I found welding brown-flat spots inside all cups surface. It doesn't look nice but still acceptable. Finally, I found the 1-cup edge is uneven with poor finishing. Maybe it is just an defective item. However, till I see the words, "made in China", with the unknown black oil in my hand, I feel more disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars spoons good, cups questionable, December 1, 2010

The spoons in this set are great, they feel solid and look good. The measuring cups on the other hand seem to be of a lower quality. First, the top rim of the measuring cups are not coated with stainless steel, and on my cups that area is starting to rust. Second, the handles are extremely flimsy and are spot welded (not molded) onto the cups. I can scoop up a cup of flour and the handle will start to bend and warp. If I were to buy again, I might order a set of spoons from this company, but I would definitely go for a set of higher quality measuring cups.

4.0 out of 5 stars Handle design could be better, February 27, 2010

These are great cups, but the handles are a little skinny. On one one of the cups that I received, the engraved measurement wasn't quite printed on all the way. The ring that comes with the measuring spoons appears to be a simple binder ring that can be purchased anywhere that sells school supplies. Reviewers for the Amco Advanced Performance Measuring Cup Set claimed that this ring is not rust proof (I haven't had the product long enough to find out myself). The stainless steel is great, but somehow, I just don't feel the quality of these cups when I hold them in my hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money, October 24, 2009

I'm so happy I decided to buy these instead of some of the more expensive brands. These are extremely durable, and well made.

The cups aren't single-piece construction, but honestly after getting them and seeing them I'm not worried at all. Many other brands just spot weld once or twice, which for the most part is even enough. These were spot welded, FOUR times. Saying these will wear out easily is like saying the Golden Gate Bridge is going to collapse because it's not made of one piece.

Also the difference between 18/8 and 18/10 is negligible in quality, but for some reason not in price. the 2% different in nickel really won't make for much difference in corrosion resistance. And the thickness is just enough so that it feels comfortable and balanced, but not too heavy. I wouldn't melt butter in these, but that's just because I melt butter in the microwave anyway. If you really want to, I don't see why not.

For $20 this is a steal.

These measuring cups are well-constructed and are also well-balanced. The spoons are also well-constructed. Nothing is flimsy.

As another rater stated, the ring that comes attached to the spoons does not make a complete loops and will fall off. So either buy another ring that will fit them or keep them loose, which is what I am doing.
