Like many other reviewers have said, the handles on the cups break off with the slightest resistance. I'm not talking about yanking on it or anything, I was cleaning the cups in a normal fashion when the handle came off. I'm very disappointed with these cups and shocked that Cook's Illustrated would recommend them. I will think twice before listening to their advice on equipment in the future.

I bought my second set of these measuring cups. After debating whether I was out of my mind to consider the expensive $50 all clad set, I decided to give this brand one more chance. If Amco would secure the handles rather than glue them, this set would be one of the best bargains ever. My one cup measuring cup's handle came off after a couple years' light use. If I had not lost it I would have had it welded on. It is now a scoop for cat food. I hope that my review helps prospective purchasers decide if they want to chance it and spend $10 or buy the $50 all clad brand and never need to buy another set of measuring cups. If this set does not hold up for a few years at least -(I hope AMCO is paying attention) I will append my review and warn prospective buyers to stay away from Amco brand kitchen ware.

I hope you read this review before purchasing. I didn't read the reviews and would have benefited. Cook's Illustrated ranked this as their top buy due to long handles. Unfortunately that does not help you when the handles fall off. First week, lost a handle. I can't give a recommendation on which is better, as I haven't replaced these, yet. DON'T buy.

The handle on one of these measuring cups fell off with less than a month's use. Very disappointing. with this purchase I was attempting to replace the measuring cups I had whose handles fell off! Stay away from these.

These are some of the best measuring cups out there. They are very accurate, a nice weight and easy to handle. They are dishwasher safe which is nice.

Like everyone here I am very dissatisfied with how the handles are attached to the cup. Mine fell off while wiping dry the cup. I fixed it with some J-B Weld, an epoxy resin which is non-toxic. It now works great! Thumbs down to Amco for their poor quality control and lack of attention on the welds. I guess that is what happens when it is made in China.

*Edit* Besides the handles falling off, these are great measuring cups. Tested to be very accurate from what I've read on America's Test Kitchen/Cooks Illustrated.

i learned a good lesson...never buy measuring cups with soldered handles,they fall off ! get a good one piece construction cup set that will last for a hundred years like the c.i.a. set...

We received these measuring cups for a wedding gift in 1993. I use them everyday, and they've behaved like champs. Sometimes the handle bends a little if I apply too much pressure scooping something (usually brown sugar), but they straighten easily. They're great!

I bought these from Amazon in May of '08. I bake almost every day and have used these measuring cups exclusively for the last 16 or so months, dishwashing rather than handwashing to clean them. So far their handles have neither bent nor snapped, and they remain as sturdy and clean as the day they arrived. There is a small crevice where the handle connects to the cup which occasionally clogs with flour, but so far I've seen no evidence that that flour will harden into place or otherwise cause a sanitary or aesthetic problem.

I bought these measuring cups after reading the recommendation from Cooks Illustrated. I have had them for at least 2 years now, have used them almost every day and love them! They are extremely accurate, easy to clean, easy to handle and durable. I highly recommend them!
