A Pleasure to Use and Accurate,

This review is from: Amco Spice Measures, Set of 6 (Kitchen)
I have been using another brand of spice jar friendly spoons and only recently discovered that they were off quite a bit in the measurements. Out they went and enter this Amco set. I measured each and every one against a very reliable set and they were right on target. They also sit perfectly on the coutertop when filled, which is wonderful. My only complaint is that the sizes imprinted on the handle are not etched deeply enough and it is not easy to read in 4 of the 6 spoons, but that is not critical, just a little annoying.

Great Measuring Spoons,
By

I really like Amco measuring cups and spoons (as well as their cooking utensils). All are sturdy and well-constructed. The spice measures are great because they easily fit into most spice jars and cans. I find that dipping in is much easier than trying to pour spices out into a regular measuring spoon. These spoons are also long enough to reach to the bottom of most spice jars and cans, and have a tapered tip to help you get into the bottom edge to either loosen hardened spices or dip out what's left. My mom liked mine so much that she replaced her William-Sonoma set with the Amco Spice Measure set.

Love them,
This review is from: Amco Spice Measures, Set of 6 (Kitchen)
My ex bought these two years ago and I just had to get them back!!!
They work very well in spice pot and are very accurate! I tested mine against a kitchen aid measuring kit and everyone of them were right on cue as far as measure is concern... Just washed them by hands...if you have time to cook, you should have time to wash your precious tools (Knives, measuring tools etc...) They will last a lifetime!!!

I already have the Amco Advanced Performance Measuring Spoons. I've had them for 5 years now. I am very happy with that set of spoons except only the 1/4 teaspoon measure fits in my spice jars, and that set doesn't come with an 1/8 or 3/4 teaspoon measure. So I decided to buy this set. But I definitely don't like these as much because:
1. It's a thinner metal than the Amco Advanced spoons. It looks pretty durable, but not as good of quality as the other measuring spoons. 2. Only the 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 teaspoon measures fit inside my spice jars. The 3/4 teaspoon, 1 teaspoon, and 1 tablespoon do not. I'm not surprised that the tablespoon doesn't fit, but I was hoping that all the rest would. 3. The handles on the smaller spoons are wider than the spoon part. So if the spoon part fits in the spice jar, you can't get in the jar very far because the handle is a little too wide. The handles should be narrower and longer. 4. They nest inside each other too tightly, so it's a little hard to "un-nest" them. 5. They're shaped oddly. They're not completely oval shaped. The tips are slightly pointed. Not sure what the benefit of that would be. But it looks a little strange. So in conclusion, I am disappointed with these spoons. I definitely prefer the Amco Advanced Performance Measuring spoons. I just wish that set came with an 1/8 teaspoon and 3/4 teaspoon measure like this set does. And I wish they fit in my spice jars. Maybe I'll just have to get bigger spice jars. I'm keeping these, but I'll probably only use the 1/8 and 3/4 teaspoons, and the rest as a back-up. If I had known all of this ahead of time, I wouldn't have bought these.

The measurements are exact-- after testing the tablespoon, teaspoon, and 1/2 teaspoon, and finding them all exactly accurate, I decided those other reviewers must have been sampling too much of the extract. They are a substantial thickness--I'd have to actually try to bend them, unlike the el cheapo spoons I had in college. They fit into spice jars easily--which is really the point, of course.

Very nice heavy set and certainly does fit into the spice jars. I had actually wanted a set with a half tablespoon measure, and thought this set was strange having a 3/4 tsp measure, but I have found out that it really has been one of my most used spoons as many of the recipes out of the 'more bread machine magic' for the 1 lb loaves call for 3/4 tsp salt, and 1 1/2 tsp of yeast, so instead of using two different sized spoons for each of those measures I only have to grab this one (and obviously for my 1/2 TBSP needs (which is the same as 1 1/2 tsp), here again it's just filling up the 3/4 tsp twice) so in the end, I actually got a much more versatile set than if I had got one instead with the 1/2 TBSP. The only oddity was the printed card that mis-identified the sizes of the spoons to suggest that there was instead 1/8, 1/4, & 1 tsp, 1 & 1 1/2 TBSP (now what an odd set that would be) which of course is only 5 as well even though at the top the card says set of 6, but since that might only throw someone buying this set in a retail store it's a non-issue here. As for one reviewer's comment about the engraved labelling on the handles, my set was all deep and clear. For sizing, they do appear to be huge just to look at them, and I too worried about the accuracy, but I measured them against other sets I had of more conventional shapes and found them to be the same measure.

I have purchased several plastic ones over the years - some are wide and cannot maneuver in a spice jar but more importantly, the printed measured amount has worn off over time. While I can usually still guess fairly well what measure it's meant to be, my children are now about the age where they can be helpful in the kitchen. And they cannot read the measure on the old plastic ones.
These can fit perfectly in most ingredient and spice containers. They are narrow enough for all our needs. Because of the curve of the handle, it will also lay balanced. You can pre-measure your ingredients and set the spoon aside until you need it. These are quite heavy and solid. I should have bought 2 sets of these at the beginning and saved myself $$ on what has become disposable plastic ones.

I accidently dropped my 1/2 tsp in the garbage disposal and was very pleased to find this set still available. The measuring spoons are thick walled and stout, yet easily fit into spice jars or salt spouts! I use them everyday and recommend or gift them to friends. Not everything that comes out of China is junk folks. Really, the one I dropped in the garbage disposal came out with some nicks and a bend in the handle. Not too shabby for that harsh ride. I probably could have straightened out the handle and used a rotary tool to smooth out the nicks but I am a perfectionist and I think $12 for the set is a great deal. No discoloring of the metal like others have found, even in the dishwasher, and no scratches.

Got here ahead of schedule and found them to be just what was needed as I always had trouble with regular measuring spoons being to wide to get in the bottles and cans of spices that I have to keep on hand as fresh ones are not always practical. These spoons fit. Someone took a look at what was needed and designed these to work.

Arrived bent out of true.,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Amco Spice Measures, Set of 6 (Kitchen)
These arrived with the handles bent near the bowls of the spoons. While they were easy to straighten, a new item should be sold in better shape and packaged with greater care. The fact that they were easy to bend means the steel was not work hardened or may have been annealed after forming the spoons. Either way, that's not a good manufacturing process to make the best tools. As far as usability goes, these are better for solid measures, while a round measuring spoon would be better for liquids.
