5.0 out of 5 stars Tried many and this is the best
I love this wine opener. I even tease other family members about their shoddy, flimsy openers (they'll be getting these as birthday gifts)! Everybody covets this one. It is very sturdy and, dare I say, an engineering marvel. :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of Cheap Chinese Junk!
We bought this silly, poorly made corkscrew opener a month ago to replace one that I had since college (many many years ago). After a handful of uses, the one arm fell off and simply would not go together again. We tried using it a few more times in this state until finally, last night the "metal" (and I use the term loosely!) gears at the top simply snapped off...

Great basic opener. Not fancy but solidly constructed and works easily. I bought half a dozen as stocking stuffers!

Having owned and used quite a few MANUAL corkscrews over the last 35 years, I would have to say that this one is the BEST I have found.

Giving them for Christmas this year to homes who are using inferior units!

I bought this corkscrew for myself because arthritis in my wrists makes it almost impossible to open a bottle of wine any other way. I am very happy that now I can have my bottle of wine in the fridge and don't have to have
a neighbor come in to open it for me. It works very well and doesn't put pressure on my 'old person' wrists!

DO NOT BUY THIS poorly made, cheap chinese junk! Worthless. Designed to fail. I'd recomend finding a real one- made of US. Steel that was built when things were made to last. Maybe you'll get lucky at a antique store! LOL!

5.0 out of 5 stars Swing-A-Way Corkscrew, November 13, 2011
This review is from: Amco Swing-A-Way 757BK Wing Corkscrew, Black (Kitchen)
I have used the same Swing-A-Way Corkscrew for nine years or more with first time success every time. That translates to hundreds of bottles of wine being opened cleanly and without stress. The heavy weight and the ergonomic design of this corkscrew aids in making cork removal a smooth and easy operation.

When I have loaned my Swing-A-Way to a neighbor in need, I have always been told, "Great corkscrew!
Where 'd you get it?"

"Amazon in Home & Kitchen"

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gift!, March 12, 2011

I am not avid wine drinker but my boyfriend recently started working at a fancy wine shop and has been bringing home lots of "work" for us to try. I had a couple of lousy wine openers and he didn't have one. I gave this one to him and he said it was the easiest to use. It didn't tear the cork and because it's all metal it was easy to pull out.

This wine opener is very well made. I've gone through a few openers, both hinge and wing style. This one is heavy duty and removes corks easily without damage. I'm sure it will last for quite a while!

1.0 out of 5 stars Tears up corks, February 3, 2011
This review is from: Amco Swing-A-Way 757BK Wing Corkscrew, Black (Kitchen)
Used on several bottles - while it goes in fine, while leveraging the corks out (some synthetic, some natural) they inevitably cracked and tore rather than coming out of the bottle.

Worked great for the first two bottles. On the third bottle, all the little teeth on the levers broke off, so it won't pull the cork now. I am a tool person, know how to use and not abuse tools. With only light pressure, my particular sample of this bottle opener self-destructed.
