I purchased this product to use as an olive slicer. I have not used the pitter portion so I can't review that part. It worked wonderfully for about a month. One day I was slicing olives and one of the blades broke completely out of the device. The metal itself actually broke, not the plastic portion. I was very disappointed in this product.

I've only used this to pit large olives - which were difficult with my old pitter - and this did a very good job. I had a bit of trouble getting used to the "feel" of the implement but once I learned how to best orient the olives, things went a bit easier.
The slicing function (which I used on already pitted ripe olives) worked perfectly and made short work of a usually time-consuming task. For anyone who consumes a sufficient amount of olives, it is certainly worth the reasonable cost. I look forward to cherry season and anticipate that this will get a good workout when the crop comes in.

I use this for Kalamata olives and have found that only about 1 in 10 pitts correctly. The others are smashed or torn two. Perhaps using a larger olive might be easier. The slicer works great.

My wife prepares us fresh salads almost everytime we eat dinner at home. One of the ingredients we use are olives. In the past she has hand-sliced them to prepare the salads because it was cheaper than purchasing the pre-sliced olives.
Since we purchased the Amco Swing-A-Way Cherry and Olive Pitter/Slicer she has prepared our salads a lot faster and has commented on how fast and easy it is to use. We haven't used the pitter, however, because we like the pimento olives, which are already pitted. Great price and easy to use! |
