Brilliant mix of old and new tech house.,
By
This review is from: Ame Mixing (Audio CD)
The mix starts off with a techno sounding track that could have easily been made today, yet it was actually a computer programmed piece of electronica from the late 70's! That sets the tone for a stunning mixture of classic tunes, mixed effortlessly into some new tracks from 2006. This was the same theme in the first Mixing CD, mixed by Jazzanova, but gone are the nu jazz sounds and in flows a complete array of tech and deep house. While the majority of the mix is filled with older stuff, you wouldn't know it by the groovy sounds and high quality tracks that Âme have selected. Standouts include where they play neearly the full length of Henrik Schwarz's remix of Coldcut's Walk a Mile in My Shoes, which is one of the best male vocal tracks this year, to a masterful and rare classic remix by Carl Craig of Jonny L's This Time, which then mixes into the brand new catchy track by Chateau Flight called Baroque. There isn't a dull moment in this mix, and it's one of the most innovative and exciting mixes to come out this year. A do not miss! One other note is that like the first Mixing CD, they come with stickers on the plastic case (peculiar that it's missing from this Amazon photo) which set against the solid cover, give it a nice, colorful touch. The only drawback is that if you crack the case, you will have to replace it with a normal one, and be left with the solid black cover like it's depicted here.
