Amedei Toscano 'Red' Dark Chocolate Bar with Dried Berries

After my experience with the Amedei Limited Edition Chuao bar, also available on Amazon, I had to expand my horizons with Amedei and will endeavor to write reviews on all of their products. For those of you who have tried Amedei products before, you'll recognize this as blatant self-serving, but for the rest of you let me assure you that I only have the most noble of motives - to provide an honest review based upon personal experience.

That being said, I must admit that I have become a fan of this company. Everything I've tried so far from this company has been of extraordinarily high quality, and these continue that trend.

As noted, I first tried the Chuao bar, and had accordingly high expectations of the Toscano `Red' Dark Chocolate Bar with Dried Berries. High quality control at the factory is evident in that each one will smoothly and uniformly melt in your mouth, allowing different regions of the tongue to note their own subtle variations as well. Like many dark chocolates, these under normal conditions will also remain firm, giving a nice texture to bite and chew while still remaining perfectly smooth and lack graininess or grit. The unique portion of this bar is the mixture into this wonderful chocolate of dried raspberries, strawberries and cherries. They add a pleasing new dimension to the overall experience, and are in a proportion that is quite complementary to the chocolate without overwhelming the chocolate or being overwhelmed by the chocolate. Small bits of seeds are present as they used real fruits instead of artificial flavors, but this actually makes the overall experience more pleasing in some small, hard to define way, but one more tangible effect is that it causes you to slow down a bit more to really enjoy the chocolate - an effect that is further intensified when sharing with friends and has almost aphrodisiac properties when shared with a lover.

As with any order from Amedei, it will be shipped with ice packs to preserve the integrity of the chocolate but has the unfortunate effect of driving up the total cost of shipping. Anticipate a significant shipping charge if ordering just one item. My recommendation is to order several items to spread out and justify this cost, which only makes sense as this chocolate is too good not to share with friends!

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST CANDY BAR I HAVE EVER HAD, THE BEST CHOCOLATE I HAVE EVER HAD. UNTIL EATING THIS I HAD NEVER LIKED DARK CHOCOLATE, NOW THIS IS MY FAVORITE.
