About the Author
Herman Parish was in the fourth grade when his aunt, Peggy Parish, wrote the first book about Amelia Bedelia. Since then, the lovable housekeeper has become a favorite household character for readers young and old. After Peggy Parish died in 1988, her nephew continued Amelia Bedelia's exploits in sixteen books, including Amelia Bedelia, Bookworm; Amelia Bedelia and the Cat; Amelia Bedelia Talks Turkey; and Amelia Bedelia Bakes Off. He has also written three picture books starring Amelia Bedelia—Amelia Bedelia's First Day of School, Amelia Bedelia's First Valentine, and Amelia Bedelia's First Apple Pie.

Amelia Bedelia Goes Back to School is bound to be a favorite of young readers. It's a wonderful introduction to the world of word play, and students will find tremendous laughs on every page, as America's favorite befuddled housekeeper makes one well-meaning mistaken interpretation of classroom activity after another!
The story and humor are underscored by charming illustrations. Recommended!

Pity any teacher who has Amelia Bedelia for a student. Poor Miss Wilson learns the hard way that Amelia takes everything literally. Simple phrases such as "take your seat" means take the seat with you as Amelia does in this book. Amelia could raise one's stress levels. If Amelia sticks to baking, she can just about win anybody in these books over. No Amelia for me.
