This is a really good book,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Amelia Bedelia Helps Out (An Avon Camelot Book) (Paperback)
I think that Amelia Bedelia Helps Out is a good book. Amelia Bedelia is funny. She does everything the wrong way. She feeds the chickens with cloth instead of chicken food. She also makes her Tea cake the wrong way. She didn't pull the right weeds in the garden. I like it because Amelia Bedelia like to help out and I do too.

Great entertaining book!,

This is a very funny book and is especially good to be read to toddlers. When Amelia is asked to stake the beans, she ties steak to them. When she's asked to make a tea cake, she makes one with tea in it. It offers a very good example of how what we say makes all the difference in the world, and whether or not what we are saying is what is being understood. When Amelia is asked to weed the garden, she thinks she's supposed to add more weeds, not "unweed it" as she states in the story. It's a little long - about 50 pages in my edition so it's a little much for a youngster to sit through but if they can do it like mine can, it is a great book to teach. I highly recommend this one.

Amelia Bedelia is the housekeeper for Mr. and Mrs. Rogers. (I would say she's probably about 18?) She takes everything literally; doesn't understand figures of speech. Because of this, she gets into some very interesting situations. (But she has an incredible talent: cooking, because she follows the directions verbatim.)In this particular book, Amelia Bedelia and her niece Effie Lou help out at Miss Emma's house. Amelia Bedelia follows directions, literally. Therefore, things do not get done right. Will Amelia Bedelia get into trouble? Or will something save her? There is one thing that always saves her . . . (I will not tell you what it is; you have to read the books to find out.) I love Amelia Bedelia books. If you haven't been lucky enough to discover her, I recommend these books. Amelia Bedelia is one of my favorite characters. Even though these are children's books, I find a bit of coziness in these books. I have loved Amelia Bedelia every since I discovered her (when my kids were little.)

Not sure she teaches good lessons but she teaches how to work honestly and directly, with a dash of fun.
If you are new to the Amelia Bedelia series - let me tell you there are many in this series and at the time of review they were going for bargain prices. If your child likes to laugh (and you too) pick out several and save on shipping as you can clump them into a single order. I don't think you will be disappointed. Realize that these are silly immature books, with a nice twist at the end of each, but books that will engage most young minds (if not too serious about life) and this will help them develop literacy skills for later through great entertainment.

All of these books are wonderful! My six year old granddaughter has been reading them for about six months. They capture her attention and she is so pleased to be reading.

One of my favorite books when I was learning to read was the original Amelia Bedelia. It was nice to be able to share the silliness with my own new reader (daughter).

A Kid's Review

amelia bedelia is very genuine in the sense that she just wants to make people happy but she ends up taking everything literally and doing just the opposite but in a funny way. She "staked" the beans, fed the chickens "scraps"...of cloth! And made "tea" cake that everyone raved over for instance.
