Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 3-6-- An adequate biography of the famous aviator, marred by Kerby's odd evaluation of significant events in Earhart's early life and her dismissive description of Earhart's attitude towards marriage as "strange." Full-page black-and-white drawings of unexceptional quality illustrate the text. Chadwick's Amelia Earhart (Lerner, 1987) covers the same material in a crisp, objective manner and includes photos and a map of Earhart's around-the-world flight. Lauber's Lost Star (Scholastic, 1988), for grades 5-8, is even better, as it is well written; thorough; and has an index, bibliography, photos, and maps. Brown's Amelia Earhart Takes Off (Whitman, 1985) is average but uninspiring. --Ann W. Moore, formerly at Lane Road Library, Columbus, OH
