Gr 3-5-Amelia is back with another black-and-white marbleized notebook, this one filled with 51 things to do when bored. Making up jump-rope songs, listing good and gross foods, eye tricks, and creating certificates for family and friends are just a few of the activities suggested. Like the other "Amelia" titles (Tricycle), every lined, hand-written page is illustrated with full-color childlike drawings. The result is lots of humor, both visual and verbal, that will appeal to even the most reluctant of readers. But best of all, this young writer encourages others to create their own notebooks filled with suggestions for fighting the doldrums. More About the Author

Marissa Moss has been telling stories and drawing pictures to go with them for as long as she can remember. She sent her first book to publishers when she was nine, but it wasn't very good and it never got published. She didn't try again until she was a grown-up, but since then she hasn't stopped.

The idea for the first Amelia's Notebook came from the notebook Moss kept when she was a kid. Amelia is a lot like her and the things that happen to Amelia really happened to Marissa (mostly).

Along with Amelia, Moss has created many characters and is especially drawn to history. Historical books allows her to imagine what it's like to be alive in a different place at a completely different time. And then there are the Max Disaster books which allow her to play with scientific experiments, inventions, and comic strips.

I'd recomend this book to anyone who: loves enthusiasim, gets bored a lot, or who loves to read! I'm a 11 year-old girl and I've tried all of the things that Amelia has suggested for getting bored. The best thing about this book is that you can do the things again and again!!

Hi,
I'm a 9 year old girl.For my B-day it looked like a cool book.So I gave it a look.And BOY WAS I RIGHT!!!First I found one great idea then anouther and soon 600 GREAT ideas!I couldn't Stop doing the activities!And geuss WHAt???The Amealia books are for all ages.I have a cousin Nicole who is 11 she has the whole searis!And She Can't stop reading them over and over again.I'd do the same.I wish the Amealia books were not so hard to find.Girl's PLEASE take my advice.It's for YOUR own advice.Thanks for your time!From your 9 year old pal.........

Finally a survival guide for boredom! Amelia (with the help of Marissa) has made the perfect book for kids of the backseat. No more "if you guys don't stop it, I'm turning this car around" scenes. This book will shush those kids forever!
