I finished Amelia's story and then immediately went straight to Amelia's Destiny. After her mother had all her children taken away from her she seemed to still take great pleasure in making Amelia's life miserable no matter what. Even though the state had taken away her right to have the children she still had the say so, about where they would be moved to and such. If she had allowed Emily to go to the best place for her, her life would probably have been a lot easier. Even when Amelia leaves the home at 16 and has no where to go, her mother only lets her stay with her so she can take her money. Her mother is an evil, spiteful woman that should never have been allowed to call herself a mother. Obviously her mother is very jealous of her, as when she got the chance to do modeling work, her mother told her she could never be a model. Always put her down. Amelia, I say lifes best revenge is living well. Good luck to you, and I will be looking for your new book in 2013. I highly recommend this book to all, just be sure to get Amelia's Story and read it first.

Amelia's Destiny picks up where Amelia's Story left off and I was very anxious to continue the journey of this broken young girl to see where life would take her. She is now on her own and finds herself in a curious situation. She has no money and nowhere to live so she is faced with her first and perhaps most difficult decision. She decides to go to her Mother's home to live while she gets her feet on the ground and is unfortunately met with the same hostile and spiteful woman that her mother has always been. She moves in with certain conditions from her mother and sets out on her journey to become an independent, self-sufficient and strong woman.

The only positive results from moving in with her mother are that she is reunited with her brother Jake. They immediately begin to re-establish the bond they had when they were children and were painfully separated from each other. They embark on a journey to forge a new adult relationship and cherish their time together.

Ultimately this is a true story about a journey of determination, self-acceptance and a strong will to make something of her life and let go of the past along with all the pain it has caused. The path is not an easy one as it is met with setbacks and bumps along the road however Amelia finds that she is strong and resilient. She battles with depression and relationships that come and go as she struggles to find love, peace and success in her life.

In order to get the full impact of Amelia's journey I recommend reading Amelia's Story first for a greater understanding of when and how her journey started.

I read Amelia's Story and was totally overwhelmed by the writing. Amelia's Destiny was absolutely incredible. I am a retired Social Work Administrator and started my career investigating cases of child abuse. These books brought back much pain as well as accomplishment. I was so relieved that Amelia was able to reconnect with her family.

After having read Amelia's Story, a book that I loved, I couldn't wait to read the sequel. I have to say it is worth the waiting. I have read this lovely book in just 5 hours. I simply couldn't put it down, as simple as that. While reading it you feel as if you are sitting down with the author, having a nice chat while enjoying a nice cup of tea. The style is so down-to-earth and straightforward that you feel as if the author is just telling you about her life in a friendly, warm, and so honest way. Read this book, really, it is like talking to a friend.

Amelia found herself homeless and almost penniless, so she had to make a big decision. Going back to her mother's house leads her to more decisions. Amelia is a young woman with a plan for the future. Follow her in her travel to become the independent woman she wants to be, and feel all the struggles she goes through to get her purposes in life. A book that won't leave you indifferent.

Very easy to follow and read, it is the perfect read for every occasion. Beautifully written, the story evolves just effortlessly, flowing quite easily. Feel for Amelia, smile with her, cry with her, and be her companion in the difficult path to happiness.

I'd read Amelia's Story and of course had to read her 'Destiny.' The most striking thing about this account is its authenticity - such brave honesty that we can only admire, how 'Amelia' pulls herself out of her poor beginnings, and despite the awful effects her past had on her, she is determined to seek a brighter future.

I would say everyone should read both books, to educate and make others aware of the terrible systems put in place for children who have disgusting parents. It also highlights the supposed 'care' system, where, for the most part, it seems only the brutal, cruel and evil staff are installed.

Yes, it's not an easy read in the sense of the subject matter, yet the words flow (despite some errors), making it a compelling read.

Highly recommended - well done, Amelia and thank you for sharing.

What an incredible life endured. I am in awe of this author. She has overcome incredible circumstances.

This story struck a cord with me. Although I must say I am in no way comparing my life to the author, I too was "distanced" from family. I met my oldest half brother for the first time when I was eighteen years old. Sadly my two half brothers and I along with my father never met under the same roof at the same time. With my father's passing many years ago, it will of course never be. I bring up my past not because I particularly want to, but to shine a light on a theme that connected with me throughout Amelia's life. It is simply that the decisions our families make directly infringe upon our lives. Families are broken up. Siblings are forgotten or perhaps never discovered.

This is a moving story. An "epic" in every sense of the word. I will leave it at that.

Amelias Destiny is the sequel to Amelias Story.(Which pulled me in right away!)The author, D.G. Torrens takes you right into her world with her words.... It doesn't matter what kind of negative family background you come from,or whatever happens in your life, as long as you have a destiny. This book gives me hope to meet mine!

The 2nd part to her story, as riveting as the first. Brutally honest, well written, I read through it quickly, and held her story in my heart. Glad the author's life has a happy ending!
