More About the Author

Marissa Moss has been telling stories and drawing pictures to go with them for as long as she can remember. She sent her first book to publishers when she was nine, but it wasn't very good and it never got published. She didn't try again until she was a grown-up, but since then she hasn't stopped.

The idea for the first Amelia's Notebook came from the notebook Moss kept when she was a kid. Amelia is a lot like her and the things that happen to Amelia really happened to Marissa (mostly).

Along with Amelia, Moss has created many characters and is especially drawn to history. Historical books allows her to imagine what it's like to be alive in a different place at a completely different time. And then there are the Max Disaster books which allow her to play with scientific experiments, inventions, and comic strips.

5.0 out of 5 stars I know this book by heart!!, November 3, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Amelia's School Survival Guide (Paperback)
This was the first Amelia book I had ever gotten. I just couldn't wait to get out of that book store and go home so that I could read it, seeing as though all of the great things I've heard about the series. Now, a mear year later, I have the entire series, even the brand new ones! (I also noticed that the book was being published by a different company! See how observant I am? I read EVERYTHING on the book, even the reveiws on the back!) So anyway, if your a kid just like me, or even an adult who has a kid just like me, I hope that you can get at LEAST one of these wonderful books because you will likely find yourself reading them more than once!

4.0 out of 5 stars Amelia's School Survival Guide, August 1, 2002

This book is for girls ages 8-12. They will love the "American Girl" book. It is very busy and is not for a reader who is distracted easily. It has tips and quizes, cool stickers and a cute sense of humor. The girls will love it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amelia's School Survival Guide, August 1, 2002

Girls ages 8-12 love this book. The manner in which the text is written is rather busy. Also, as a teacher, this book would be difficult to read to a classroom full of students. Furthermore, learning disabled students would find this book laborious to read.
